Viking Ve (built in 2015) is one of the new-generation Viking Cruises Longships. The river cruise ship is named after Ve—one of the principal gods in Norse mythology. Together with his brothers Vili and Odin (father of all gods), he fought and slew the primordial giant Ymir. From Ymir’s body, the three gods created the heavens and the earth. From the wood of two trees, they shaped the first man and woman—Ask and Embla—to whom Ve gave physical form, as well as the ability to see, hear, and speak. In Old Norse, the name Ve means “shrine” (a sacred or holy place).
Viking Ve’s deck plan includes a total of 95 staterooms for up to 190 passengers, served by 50 crew and staff. The ship has 4 passenger decks and 1 glass elevator (connecting the Main and Upper decks only). The Viking Longship Ve does not feature a gym, pool/whirlpool, or spa. Guests may instead access health and spa facilities at select luxury hotels along the ship’s itinerary.
