Viking Tialfi (built 2016) is part of the new generation of Viking Cruises longships. The river cruise ship is named after the champion runner Tialfi, the son of Egil (a hero in Norse mythology, featured in the Volundarkvida poem). Tialfi became a servant to the thunder god Tor (Thor/Dorr) after eating one of the god’s goats. During a journey with Thor, Tialfi raced against the illusory giant Hugi (an embodiment of thought) and, unsurprisingly, lost.
Viking Tialfi’s deck plan includes a total of 95 staterooms for up to 190 passengers, served by 50 crew and staff. She has 4 passenger decks and 1 glass elevator (connecting the Main and Upper decks only). The Viking longship Tialfi does not feature a gym, pool/whirlpool, or spa. However, guests may access health and spa facilities at luxury hotels along the ship’s itinerary.
