AIDA Cruises has embarked on its most extensive fleet modernization (ship refits and refurbishments) program with the launch of AIDA Evolution, marking a significant milestone in the company's history.

The initial phase of this comprehensive project will focus on the major overhaul of the Sphinx-class vessels AIDAdiva, AIDAbella, and AIDAluna, scheduled for 2025 and 2026.

The primary emphasis will be on revamping the interior design of the vessels, accompanied by updates to technical equipment and systems. All staterooms will undergo complete redecoration, with an expansion of the suite offerings. Exclusive areas and services will be introduced for the first time in this ship class, catering to suite guests. Guests can anticipate an enhanced culinary experience with a wider variety of restaurants, signature bars, and improved services.

The central focal point of the Sphinx-class ships, the light-filled Theatrium, will receive enhancements such as inviting seating arrangements and a cohesive color scheme. New activity areas will also be introduced, particularly catering to families with children.

Aligned with its decarbonization strategy, AIDA has long been committed to investing in a sustainable cruise market and implementing innovative solutions. The company's proactive approach includes investments in shore power capabilities since 2004 to reduce local emissions. Moreover, significant investments have been made in propulsion and environmental technologies for new ships, alongside ongoing efficiency measures and technological retrofits on existing fleet vessels.

Further investments are planned during the upcoming shipyard overhauls, aimed at reducing fuel consumption, enhancing energy efficiency, and promoting resource conservation.

As one of the Carnival Corporation's subsidiaries, AIDA has set ambitious sustainability goals, including a target to reduce carbon intensity by 20% by 2026 compared to 2019 levels.

The Sphinx-class ships, commissioned between 2007 and 2013, are renowned for their innovative open-space concept and vibrant design, contributing significantly to the distinctive AIDA experience. AIDAdiva will undergo the first phase of modernization during her 6-week dry dock overhaul in spring 2025, followed by AIDAbella and AIDAluna in fall 2025 and spring 2026, respectively.
