On May 8, 2025, the cruise ship Carnival Legend made her inaugural arrival at the Port of San Francisco (California USA), marking the beginning of her seasonal homeport operations.

This development establishes Carnival Legend as the second ship from CCL-Carnival Cruise Line homeported in San Francisco on a seasonal basis, reinforcing CCL’s prominence as the leading cruise line in California by embarkation volume.

To commemorate the occasion, senior officers of Carnival Legend, including Captain Mark Harlow, participated in a traditional plaque exchange with local port authorities. The ceremony recognized the vessel’s first call to the port and underscored the port’s expanding role in the line’s West Coast itinerary. This arrival also signifies the completion of Carnival’s Alaska deployment for the season, with Carnival Spirit and Carnival Luminosa already operating from Seattle (Washington USA).

The ship is scheduled to conduct 10-day roundtrips from San Francisco to Alaska, offering guests an opportunity to explore key destinations in the region. Additionally, the itinerary includes shorter cruises to the Mexican Riviera. Captain Harlow noted that the crew was enthusiastic about beginning operations from San Francisco and anticipated offering distinctive sailings that link the city with Alaska’s celebrated natural landscapes. He remarked that the ship’s 965 crew members were prepared to provide memorable cruise experiences for all guests.

On the day of arrival, embarking passengers began a 4-day itinerary to Baja Mexico, which includes a port call in Ensenada. Subsequently, on May 12, Carnival Legend will depart on her first Alaska-bound voyage of the season, featuring scenic cruising through Tracy Arm Fjord and port calls in Juneau, Skagway, Ketchikan, and Prince Rupert, British Columbia.

The vessel is also slated for a 15-day Carnival Journeys sailing to Hawaii, departing on September 21. This voyage includes stops at Kahului (Maui), Honolulu (Oahu), Nawiliwili (Kauai), and Hilo (Hawaii). Onboard offerings include several of Carnival’s signature dining and entertainment venues such as Guy’s Burger Joint, BlueIguana Cantina, the RedFrog Pub, Alchemy Bar, and the WaterWorks Aqua Park. Enhancements made during a recent refurbishment include the addition of the Heroes Tribute Bar & Lounge, Chef’s Table, Dreams Studio, an upgraded Fahrenheit 555 steakhouse, and the Cloud 9 Spa.

With capacity for 2,124 guests, Carnival Legend features over 630 balcony staterooms and 50 suites, positioning the vessel to deliver an elevated cruise experience for those sailing from San Francisco.
