As part of its largest fleet modernization effort to date, AIDA Cruises has launched the AIDA Evolution initiative, aimed at extending the operational life and guest appeal of its mid-sized ships. The program commenced in February 2025 with AIDAdiva undergoing comprehensive refurbishment at the Chantier Naval shipyard in Marseille. Enhancements focused on improved comfort, updated technology, and refreshed design elements across public and private spaces.

AIDAluna is scheduled for modernization between October and December 2025, followed by AIDAbella from January to March 2026. The remaining 4 sister ships—AIDAblu, AIDAsol, AIDAmar, and AIDAstella—will follow in phased dry docks through 2028.

AIDA Cruises confirmed an investment in the high hundreds of millions of euros, underscoring a long-term commitment to its smaller vessels. These ships will operate under the new “AIDAselection” brand, emphasizing a unified ship family concept. This includes cohesive interior design, intimate onboard atmospheres, and the capacity to access smaller ports due to their more compact dimensions.

Redesigns include revitalized theatrium spaces, extensive sea-facing areas, and updated open-deck concepts. The fleet will continue to offer a wide range of itineraries, including unique seasonal voyages such as Japanese cherry blossom cruises, South American carnival experiences, and Arctic Northern Lights expeditions.

In addition to refurbishing its current ships, AIDA Cruises plans to expand its fleet with two newbuilds, scheduled for delivery in 2030 and 2031/32 from Fincantieri in Italy. These will bring the total fleet to 13 ships and form part of a broader investment in sustainable and innovative cruising.
