Princess Cruises’ newest ROYAL class vessel, Discovery Princess, made her inaugural call at the Marina Bay Cruise Centre in Singapore on October 28th, 2025.
The visit marked the start of the 5-day "Malaysian Getaway" (roundtrip itinerary) visiting Port Klang/Kuala Lumpur, Penang, and Langkawi before returning to Singapore on November 2nd.
Launched in March 2022, the 3,660-passenger Discovery Princess has 1,834 staterooms, including 1,438 balcony cabins. The Sky Suites—equipped with 270-degree panoramic balconies—represent the fleet's largest accommodations.
This Southeast Asian itinerary is the ship’s sole regional voyage before repositioning to Australia, where she will begin her first homeporting season in Sydney NSW from December 6th, 2025, to April 7th, 2026.
The Australian deployment will include more than twenty itineraries across Australia, New Zealand, and the South Pacific Islands, coinciding with Princess Cruises’ 50th anniversary of operations from Australia.
A customary plaque-exchange ceremony took place onboard to commemorate the maiden call, attended by Captain Tony Ruggero and representatives from the Marina Bay Cruise Centre, Singapore Tourism Board, and Wallem Shipping. The occasion also included ship tours and a hosted luncheon for over fifty Singapore-based travel advisors.
Further familiarisation visits are scheduled at Port Klang and Penang, where additional travel advisors will be welcomed aboard. Local port and tourism authorities will also participate in plaque exchanges during those calls.
Diamond Princess is scheduled to return to Singapore to commence her homeporting season from December 6th, 2025, through February 2026, with regional sailings to Vietnam, Malaysia, Thailand, and Cambodia.
Crown Princess will also make her maiden visit to Singapore toward the end of November 2025, continuing the line’s growing presence in Southeast Asia.
