Discovery Princess cabins review

Discovery Princess features 1,438 cabins with balconies, representing 80% of all staterooms. There are 36 wheelchair-accessible cabins (29 Balcony, 7 Inside). The ship has 352 Suites, including 314 Mini-Suites. There are a total of 38 cabin categories. Similar to her sisterships (and NCL Epic), Discovery Princess does not have Oceanview cabins (i.e., outside staterooms with Picture or Porthole windows).

Below is a review of Discovery Princess staterooms in terms of amenities, furnishings, and included (complimentary) services:

All staterooms accommodate up to four guests, except Sky Suites, which sleep up to five. The ship has no Oceanview staterooms (featuring Porthole or Picture Window views).

All balcony cabins feature floor-to-ceiling sliding glass doors opening to a private step-out veranda. Most balconies are relatively small—approximately 40 ft² (4 m²)—and narrow, furnished with two patio chairs, a round table, and footstools. Balcony railings are either toughened glass or solid steel. These staterooms offer ample closet space, bathrooms with WC and shower, a double sofabed, desk and chair, and chest of drawers.

Discovery Princess Suites are available in three categories: Sky Suite (SO), Balcony Suite (S2-Owner’s, S3-S4-Penthouse, S5-Premium), and Mini-Suite (MA, MB, MC, ME, MF, M1–M6-Premium). All Suites include enhanced amenities such as deluxe mattresses and pillows, two HDTVs, upgraded bathroom products (massage showerheads, luxury toiletries, plush bathrobes, and terry towels), and luxury balcony furnishings. Balcony Suites offer additional perks including a choice of three deluxe mattress types, iPod docking station, sun loungers, bathroom with a separate shower stall, complimentary Internet Café access, laundry/dry cleaning services, and exclusive access to the Concierge Lounge (located on Deck 14).

Sky Suites, located midship on Deck 18, are two-room accommodations featuring a private wraparound balcony, walk-in closet, living room (with sofabed, desk, vanity, table, armchairs), separate bedroom, two full bathrooms (with WC, shower, whirlpool bathtub, double sinks, and marble finishes), and a powder room.

All Discovery Princess cabins come standard with a living area (vanity, desk, seating), two twin beds (convertible to a Queen-size), deluxe bedding (Egyptian cotton linens), wardrobe, desk, smart HDTV (featuring infotainment system, Internet access, and on-demand movies), direct-dial phone, electronic safe, lifejackets (in the closet), hairdryer, premium bath products (shampoo, conditioner, body lotion), minibar/fridge, individual air-conditioning, evening turndown service, and complimentary 24-hour room service.

All staterooms are equipped with the signature “Princess Luxury Bed.” This specially designed bed was developed in collaboration with sleep specialist Dr. Michael Breus (“The Sleep Doctor”) and designer Candice Olson. It features a luxury pillow-top mattress, individually wrapped coils (to reduce motion transfer), and hypoallergenic duvets.

Self-service launderettes (laundromats) are available to passengers on decks 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 14, 15, and 16. These laundry rooms include ironing boards and provide detergent.

The “Club Class Mini-Suite” is a premium category introduced fleetwide in 2017. These VIP Mini-Suites offer complimentary perks such as Club Class Dining, exclusive access to the Elite Lounge, complimentary in-cabin hors d'oeuvres, and priority services (embarkation, disembarkation, tendering). Club Class Dining features a dedicated area within the main dining room reserved for Club Class guests, offering expedited seating, dedicated waiter service, exclusive menus with chef’s specials, and tableside dish preparation. This dining option is available daily for breakfast and dinner, and on sea days for lunch. Club Class Mini-Suites replaced some existing Mini-Suites, maintaining the same size and layout as other Mini-Suite grades.
