Island Princess cabins review

Island Princess has 789 balcony cabins (80% of the ship’s 879 outside staterooms). There are 20 wheelchair-accessible cabins—16 outside and 4 inside.

Below is a review of Island Princess staterooms—their amenities, furnishings, and included (complimentary) services:

All Suites on Island Princess have a walk-in closet (ample storage), living room (sofa bed, desk, vanity, table, armchairs), and bathroom (WC/toilet, shower stall, whirlpool bathtub, double sinks). Oceanview Mini-Suites have a large picture window instead of a verandah but include the same suite amenities. Additional suite perks include a deluxe mattress and pillows, two smart HDTVs, a CD/DVD player, upgraded bathroom amenities (massage showerheads, luxury bath products), luxury balcony furniture, and complimentary services (Spa Thermal Suite access, Internet Cafe, laundry/dry cleaning, one-time minibar setup).

All balcony accommodations feature floor-to-ceiling sliding glass doors opening to a private verandah (round table, patio chairs), plus sunloungers in balcony suites only. Balcony cabins include ample closet space, a bathroom (shower), a desk, and drawers. Select cabins have additional berths for a 3rd/4th guest.

Oceanview cabins have a picture window (category OE has a porthole window). Oceanview categories OV, OW, OY, and OZ have obstructed views. Inside cabins are the same size and have the same amenities as Oceanview rooms, but without a window.

All Island Princess cabins include a living area (vanity, desk, seating), two twin beds (convertible to a queen), deluxe bedding (Egyptian-cotton linens), closet, smart HDTV (infotainment system, Internet, on-demand movies), direct-dial phone, electronic safe and lifejackets (in the closet), hairdryer, bath products (shampoo, body lotion, conditioner), mini-bar/fridge, individual air-conditioning, evening turndown service, and complimentary 24-hour room service.

Passenger-use launderettes (self-service laundromats) are located on Decks 5, 8, 9, 10, 11, and 12. These self-service laundry rooms provide ironing boards and detergent.

During the 2020 drydock refurbishment, all Island Princess staterooms were upgraded with the company’s signature “Princess Luxury Bed.” The “cruise bed” was developed in collaboration with Michael Breus, PhD (commonly known as “The Sleep Doctor”), and designer Candice Olson. The beds feature a luxury pillow-top mattress, individually wrapped coils (to reduce surface sway), and hypoallergenic duvets.

“Club Class Mini-Suite” is a cabin category rolled out fleetwide in 2017. These VIP Mini-Suites include the following complimentary services and amenities – “Club Class Dining,” exclusive access to the Elite Lounge, complimentary in-cabin canapés, and priority embarkation/disembarkation/tendering. Club Class Dining is a dedicated area within the MDR (main dining room) reserved for Club Suite guests only. The experience features expedited seating, dedicated waitstaff, an exclusive menu (with chef’s specials), and tableside preparation of select dishes. Club Class Dining is offered daily for breakfast and dinner, and for lunch on sea days only. The new suites replaced some existing mini-suites; their sizes and layouts remain the same as other Mini-Suite grades.
