Celebrity Cruises announced that it will spend more than US$500 million during the next years to revitalize its fleet of luxury cruise ships. Dubbed "Celebrity Revolution,” the modernization includes a refresh of staterooms and public spaces aboard 9 Celebrity vessels to bring the level of luxury up to the standards of line's forthcoming class, Edge. The entire project is due to be completed between February 2019-February 2023.
To finish the overhaul and provide a fresh look for its cruisers, the company worked with hospitality design firm HBA (Hirsch Bedner Associates) to transform the staterooms and some of the suites. Kelly Hoppen, U.K.-based South African interior designer, who oversaw the work on the next vessel Celebrity will launch in December, Celebrity Edge, took charge of the revitalization of the ships' Suites.
Renovated Celebrity ships will also feature The Retreat Sundecks, with a full-size pool and spa tub, cabanas and loungers, plus poolside beverage and food service. Suites-only restaurant, Luminae, will receive an all-new look and custom menus by Celebrity’s Michelin-starred chef partner, Cornelius Gallagher.
The staterooms will also boast Celebrity’s eXhale bedding with luxurious cashmere mattresses, new high-tech features like RFID locks, Bluetooth and Xcelerate.
The gourmet Qsine restaurant will be added all across the fleet and renovated. It will offer virtual Le Petit Chef dining-entertainment fusion experience, that was created by Skullmapping artists and presented by TableMation exclusively for Celebrity. The Main Restaurant, Oceanview Cafe and Sunset Bar will also be redesigned, as will public venues including Team Earth, The Library and The Hideaway. Guests can also expect SPA's newly expanded SEA Thermal Suite and new shopping experiences from brands like Hublot and Shinola.
The rollout will start in February 2019, and take about 4 years to complete. The current schedule of cruise ships and completion dates for Celebrity Revolution project is as follows:
