Celebrity Millennium (2000-built, “Solsticized” in 2012, and refurbished under the "Celebrity Revolution" drydock program in February 2019) is the first of Celebrity Cruises' Millennium-class ships, along with Constellation, Infinity, and Summit.
Celebrity Millennium’s deck plan includes a total of 1,079 staterooms accommodating 2,158 passengers (maximum capacity 2,590), served by 1,000 crew members. The ship has 12 passenger decks (8 with cabins), 9 restaurants and food bars (including 4 specialty venues), 11 lounges and bars, 3 swimming pools (one covered), 6 outdoor whirlpool Jacuzzis, and 10 elevators.
Onboard laundry facilities are not self-service. Laundry, dry-cleaning, and pressing services are available for an additional fee, charged per item.
Cruise Ship Internet "Xcelerate"
Since 2016, Celebrity Millennium passengers have access to “Xcelerate” – high-speed satellite Internet available throughout the entire cruise, including while in port and at sea. The technology ensures stable and fast VPN connections for efficient browsing and HD video streaming.
- Xcelerate allows fast streaming of music and HD videos (including YouTube and Netflix), uploading of large images, and video chatting via FaceTime or Skype.
- Internet packages can be purchased onboard or in advance. Unlimited Internet pricing (per person) varies by cruise length: USD 140 for 5- to 9-day cruises, and USD 199 for cruises of 10 days or longer. Guests booking the “Go Big” promotion receive unlimited Internet as a complimentary amenity.
Celebrity Millennium Deck Plan Changes – 2019 Refurbishment Review
The ship’s January–February 2019 drydock (in Singapore) resulted in the following upgrades:
- New hull and superstructure color scheme applied.
- All staterooms were redesigned in collaboration with Hirsch Bedner Associates (USA) and Kelly Hoppen (UK) to create a boutique hotel feel. Upgrades included “Celebrity eXhale” bedding (cashmere mattresses), RFID electronic locks, Bluetooth capability, and Xcelerate high-speed Internet.
- Qsine Restaurant was fully redesigned and now features “Le Petit Chef” – a virtual dining experience by Skullmapping, presented by TableMation Studios, exclusive to Celebrity Cruises.
- Main Dining Rooms, Oceanview Café (buffet), and Sunset Bar received design upgrades with new textures and finishes.
- The Spa was expanded to include the SEA Thermal Suite.
- Retail shopping was enhanced with new luxury brands, including Hublot (Swiss watches) and Shinola (watches, jewelry, leather goods).
- The Suites-only Luminae Restaurant was redesigned, with new menus curated by Chef Cornelius Gallagher.
- The Retreat was added – an adults-only sundeck with a full-size swimming pool, whirlpool Jacuzzi, private cabanas, padded loungers, and poolside food and beverage service.
- Renovations were made to most public venues, including all lounges and bars. Passport Bar (Atrium lobby) and Gastrobar (offering 40+ craft beers) were upgraded.
- The refurbishment was managed by Trimline (UK).
Celebrity Millennium was the first vessel modernized under the “Celebrity Revolution” fleetwide upgrade program, which had a total budget of USD 500 million and was scheduled for 2019–2023.
Celebrity Millennium Deck Plan Changes – 2016 Refurbishment Review
The ship’s 2016 refurbishment included the following updates:
- Aft on Sports Deck 12, a new relaxation and entertainment space was added – the “Rooftop Terrace,” replacing part of the stern sundeck area.
- On Plaza Deck 3, The Olympic Restaurant was replaced by Tuscan Grille (steakhouse). A new Future Cruise Sales office and portrait studio were added. The Cinema was redesigned to also serve as a Conference Center.
- A new retail store was added to Deck 5.
- Qsine Restaurant was added on Deck 11.
- All Suite accommodations (Royal Suites and Penthouse Suites) received new furniture and upgraded amenities. Changes included remodeled bathrooms with marble finishes, new seating, enhanced lighting, updated carpeting, new drapes, and bed linens.
- The Casino (Deck 4) and Solarium (Deck 10) were renovated with new furnishings and flooring. The Casino’s theme décor was removed. The pool area and Spa Café on Lido Deck 10 were also updated.
Celebrity Millennium Deck Plan Changes – 2012 Refurbishment Review
The May 2012 drydock brought the following changes:
- 60 new staterooms were added.
- 107 balcony cabins were converted into AquaClass Spa cabins.
- All Sky Suite (mini-suite) balconies were refurbished.
- Celebrity iLounge was added – an Apple reseller offering Internet access and enrichment classes.
- Bistro on Five (a creperie) was introduced on Deck 5. In 2016, it was renamed “Sushi on Five.”
- Two new bars – Martini Bar and Crush Bar – were added midship on Promenade Deck 4 in the Grand Foyer area.
- Michael’s Club was enhanced with a selection of over 60 craft beers.
- Wi-Fi service was upgraded to provide full shipwide coverage.
- The pool deck on Lido Deck 10 received new sun loungers. The gym was outfitted with new fitness equipment.
Comprehensive renovations were performed across all cabins and public spaces, including new HDTVs, carpets, tiles, furniture, and upholstery.
