Review of Celebrity Millennium deck 12 (Sports-Rooftop-Retreat Sundeck)
Sports Deck is accessible only by stairs (no elevator access). The aft-located Basketball Court is multi-sports outdoor court for playing basketball, volleyball, tennis. The fore-located Retreat Sundeck is a Suite-only sundeck (open-air sunbathing and relaxation area) accessible via outdoor stairs and an ADA ramp.
The Retreat Sundeck is an all-inclusive outdoor relaxation area fitted with luxurious cabanas (for rent), sunbathing area with premium garden furniture (plush sun loungers, plus padded deckchairs, low tables, daybeds / canopied lounge beds), an outdoor Jacuzzi hot tub (spa pool), Retreat Bar (with high stools / bar chairs), The Retreat Lounge is 24-hour open, and provides concierge services, complimentary beverages, gourmet bites. The Suites-exclusive Retreat Lounge concept was introduced on Celebrity Cruises' Edge-class ships.
During the cruise ship's drydock 2019 refurbishment, the aft portion of the sundeck was transformed into the new "Rooftop Terrace". Located behind the Sports Court and spanning the ship's entire width, this is an outdoor lounge area for relaxation during the day, featuring 6 cabanas and premium garden furniture (grouped together wicker couches with low tables). In the evenings, Rooftop Terrace transforms into an open-air entertainment lounge with an outdoor cinema (large LED screen, surround sound system) and comfortable seating area with live plants, modular furniture, decorative lighting, waiter service for drinks. Depending on the cruise itineraries/current destination, here are offered themed entertainment and local food (a la carte priced, served in special dishes). As design and concept, Rooftop Terrace is similar to the outdoor relaxation complex "Lawn Club" on Celebrity Cruises' Solstice-class liners.
Rooftop Terrace's "night movie lounge" concept ("A Taste of Film") is culinary-themed. It gives the ship's passengers an array of gourmet, chef-designed and themed food samples (a total of 10 tastings per night) inspired from the movie being watched. The evening's menu list and descriptions are provided to the guests, as well as a tray with the 10 samples (8 foods and 2 beverages) all labeled with numbers. When cruisers see the corresponding number on the screen, they taste the sample from the tray. The "A Taste of Film" programming can be found in the ship's daily newsletter.
Rooftop Terrace's evening culinary-movie event is a specialty dining option available at extra cost (USD 19 per person). It is hosted here one night, and on 7-night cruise itineraries only.
