Royal Caribbean announced it had decided to redeploy its Independence of the Seas from the UK in 2020, and instead keep the vessel in Port Everglades FL to offer more voyages to RCCL's private Bahamian island CocoCay.

As a result of the change, RCI has begun informing clients who had sailings booked on Independence of the Seas from Southampton UK in 2020 that their cruises were canceled.

On the UK website, Royal Caribbean explained that "guests affected by the itinerary change will be offered full refunds and a ‘Future Cruise Credit’ for use on alternative sailings."

The Quantum-class Anthem of the Seas will be back to the UK for 2020, adding more options for travelers out of Southampton. Independence OTS will stay in the Caribbean instead of homeporting in Southampton in 2020.
