On April 24, 2020, the Croatian shipyard "3 Maj" (Treci Maj Brodogradiliste) started building the top-luxury yacht Scenic Eclipse 2 - a new cruise ship ordered by the Australian company (shipowner) Scenic Group - the parent company of Scenic Cruises and Emerald Waterways. Scenic Eclipse II's keel-laying and launching (float-out from drydock) are also scheduled in 2020.

Like the sistership of Scenic Eclipse (2019-built), Eclipse 2 has LOA length 168 m (551 ft), max passenger capacity 228 (limited to 200 on Antarctic cruises) plus 192 crew, 8 decks (5 with cabins), 114 staterooms. The vessel design also features 2x onboard helicopters, 1x mini-submarine (7-seat vessel), 1x ROV (camera-equipped remotely operated vehicle), 12x Zodiacs/RIBs (high-speed rigid inflatable boats), aqua quad-bikes, seakayaks.

Both operated by Scenic Yacht Cruises vessels are Croatia-built - Eclipse 1 in Pula (Uljanik Shipyard), Eclipse 2 in Rijeka (3 Maj Shipyard).

Scenic Eclipse 2 will be built with the latest technological advancements in order to ensure the highest safety standards. It will boast custom-built stabilizers (50% bigger than on other vessels with similar GT tonnage / 16500 tons) and an ice-strengthened hull.

Yacht's state-of-the-art fins will be able to adjust themselves, enabling the ship to handle the strongest water currents and to remain stable. Unlike other ships that use traditional anchors, Scenic's mega-yachts are fitted with a dynamic positioning system. It uses GPS data to accurately maintain the ship's position - an eco-friendly way to control the vessel. The other environmentally sustainable systems implemented are efficient marine engines and advanced water treatment systems.

The ship's integrated navigation and automation/control system will be provided by the company Kongsberg Maritime. This modern technology combines the following systems - Navigation, Dynamic Positioning, automation, Emergency Shutdown, Power Management, Safety Management, and Control. The system is integrated with online diagnostics and remote service facility.
