Buzios (Brazil)

Búzios is a tender port with no conventional cruise terminal. Independent sightseeing is easy when tenders use the central pier, which is beside the waterfront, Rua das Pedras and the historic center. Some calls may instead use Porto Veleiro, approximately 4 km (2.5 mi) from the center, so confirm the landing point and last-tender time before going ashore.

Getting from the Tender Pier

Passengers landing at the central pier can walk directly into the main shopping and dining area. Rua das Pedras, Praia do Canto and the beginning of Orla Bardot are only a few minutes away. A shuttle is normally unnecessary from this landing.

Porto Veleiro is less convenient for independent visitors. Use a taxi or another confirmed transfer to reach the center, and make certain the driver knows which pier your ship is using for the return. Public transport is less practical for a time-limited cruise call.

Best Ways to Spend the Call

Historic Center and Orla Bardot

Allow 1.5–2.5 hours for an unhurried waterfront visit. Walk through Rua das Pedras, continue along Orla Bardot past the Brigitte Bardot sculpture and fishing-boat views, and proceed toward Praia da Armação. This compact area is best explored independently and leaves time for shopping or a meal before returning to the tender.

Ossos, Azeda and Azedinha Beaches

Allow about 3–4 hours from the central pier. Follow the waterfront to Sant’Anna Church and Praia dos Ossos, then continue on foot to Azeda and neighboring Azedinha. The final approach includes a path and steps, and the small beaches can become crowded when ships are in port. This is the most practical beach outing without arranging a road transfer.

João Fernandes or Another Peninsula Beach

For more beach time, take a taxi or locally available water taxi to João Fernandes. Ferradura offers a sheltered bay, while Geribá is broader and generally more exposed to waves. Choose one beach rather than trying to visit several; road traffic and waiting for return transport can consume a significant part of the call.

Coastal Viewpoints by Vehicle

A sightseeing vehicle, buggy with driver, taxi or organized excursion can cover beaches and viewpoints on both sides of the peninsula more efficiently than walking. This is useful for passengers who prefer scenery and photographs to several hours at one beach. Confirm the route, duration and return point before departure.

Boat or Schooner Trip

Boat trips usually focus on coastal scenery, swimming stops and beaches that are less convenient to reach by road. They can occupy much of the port call, so compare the excursion’s return time with the ship’s last tender. A ship-arranged excursion offers additional reassurance when the schedule is short or tender operations may be delayed.

Easy Waterfront Walk

Route: Central tender pier – Rua das Pedras – Praia do Canto – Orla Bardot – Brigitte Bardot sculpture – Fishermen Monument – return through the center.

Distance: Approximately 2 km (1.2 mi) round trip. Pure walking time: 30–40 minutes. Recommended total time: 1.5–2 hours.

The route is mostly level but includes paving that can be uneven. It is suitable for passengers wanting a relaxed introduction without committing to a beach transfer.

Moderate Waterfront and Beach Walk

Route: Central tender pier – Rua das Pedras – Orla Bardot – Brigitte Bardot sculpture – Praia da Armação – Sant’Anna Church – Praia dos Ossos – Azeda – Azedinha – return by the same waterfront route.

Distance: Approximately 4.5 km (2.8 mi) round trip. Pure walking time: About 1–1.25 hours. Recommended total time: 3–4 hours with viewpoints and beach stops.

This route includes sun exposure, uneven surfaces, inclines and steps near Azeda. Wear suitable footwear and carry water. Passengers who become tired can turn back at Praia dos Ossos or look for locally available transport rather than continuing to Azeda.

Practical Tips

• Check the exact tender landing and last-tender time in the ship’s daily information; Búzios can use more than one passenger landing.
• Allow a generous return margin because tender queues, sea conditions and traffic can cause delays.
• Do not attempt to combine the historic center with numerous beaches around the peninsula. The waterfront plus one beach area is a more realistic plan.
• Shade is limited on parts of the waterfront and beach paths. Bring sun protection, water and footwear suitable for steps and uneven paving.
• If using a taxi, buggy or water taxi, agree on the destination and return arrangements before leaving.
• Passengers with limited mobility may find the central waterfront manageable, but the route to Azeda and Azedinha is less suitable because of steps and uneven ground.
