Costa Cruises announced its programs for South America 2021-2022 winter season during an online conference led by the brand’s General Manager for Central and South America, Dario Rustico.

For its South American restart, the Carnival Corporation's Italian cruise company will introduce two liners. Costa Toscana (fleet's new flagship) is scheduled to make her debut in Brazil, while Costa Favolosa will extend her cruise season to almost 5 months.

Costa Toscana is currently under construction at Meyer shipyard in Turku, Finland. With GT tonnage 180,000+ tons and 2600+ staterooms (including a new cabin category with both terrace and balcony), Toscana is the sistership to the 2019-built Costa Smeralda

The inaugural voyage of Costa Toscana will feature New Year’s Eve, as it is scheduled to depart from Santos Brazil on December 26, 2021, for a 7-night trip to Salvador and Ilheus, returning to Santos on January 2, 2022, for an unprecedented moment in the history of Brazilia's cruise industry.

From January 2 to April 10, 2022, Toscana will offer another 15 voyages with the same itinerary, with embarkation in Salvador and Santos. The 15 cruises include Carnival and Easter departures before the Brazil-Italy crossing, departing from Santos on April 17, 2022.

Starting November 20, 2021, Costa Favolosa will be sailing in South America for a total of 144 days, almost 5 months, the longest season in Costa Cruises' history in the region. The liner will offer 5 journeys, from 3 to 6 nights, visiting Buzios, Salvador, Ilhabela, Balneario Camboriu, with embarkation out of Santos.

From December 13, 2021, to April 2022, Costa Favolosa is scheduled to depart from Rio de Janeiro for her “Prata” itinerary. Fifteen 8-night cruises will be offered, with embarkation (for the first time) in Itajai, in addition to Montevideo Uruguay and Buenos Aires Argentina. Costa holidays in the Prata region include Christmas, New Year’s Eve, and Carnival. The itinerary allows guests to visit popular destinations like the cities of Rio de Janeiro, Ilhabela, Itajai, Montevideo, and Buenos Aires.

Favolosa’s New Year’s itinerary maintains her traditional New Year’s Eve call at Copacabana beach and a fireworks display. The 2021-2022 cruise season will be marked by the Italy-Brazil and Brazil-Italy crossings onboard Costa Favolosa.

Departing from Savona on November 2, 2021, for an 18-night trip, the liner will visit Marseille, Barcelona, Malaga, Casablanca, and Santa Cruz de Tenerife, in addition to Brazilia's Recife, Salvador, Ilheus, Rio de Janeiro. Her return voyage to Europe will commence on April 16, 2022, from Rio for a 15-night sailing visiting Salvador, Maceio, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Malaga, Barcelona before reaching Savona on May 1, 2022.
