Engelhartszell is a Danube River cruise port in Austria (Upper Danube Valley), and a market town with population of around 1,000. Engelhartszell an der Donau is a small municipality in Schärding district, Upper Austria state. Most of the region's territory is forested (over 57%), 28% is farmland.
The market town was founded by the renowned Bishop Wernhard von Prabach. Rich in history, among its main tourist attractions are the Baroque-style Parish Church, the Abbey Church (one of Austria's most authentic Rococo buildings), the 400-year old black smithy, the imperial Toll Gate, the Energie AG culture center, as well as all the picturesque buildings in the town's center.
