Ranchot is a Doubs River (Saone River) cruise port and a village in France's Jura department (Bourgogne-Franche-Comte region) with population around 500. Ranchot is located between Doubs River (tributary of Saone River) and Canal du Rhone au Rhin (Rhone-Rhine Canal, 1833-opened). By length (approx 453 km / 281 mi) Doubs River is ranked France's 10th-longest.
During the Middle Ages (5th-15th centuries), the village developed agriculture (crops), viticulture (winegrowing) and cattle breeding (livestock). In later times were developed crafts and trade based on the nearby passing shipping routes. During France's pre-industrial period (early-18th-century) was developed iron industry based on mining activities (ore production) in Dampierre. The current-day Ranchot's best-known tourist attraction is the mid-15th-century built Saint-Etienne Chapel.
As cruise port, Ranchot-Jura was included in the 2019 schedule of the luxury hotel barge Deborah. The ship is 2016-built and owned by CroisiEurope - one of the world's largest river cruise companies. Next table shows CroisiEurope's 6-day itinerary between homeports Besancon and Dijon.
