Dole is a Doubs River (Saone River) cruise port and town in France's Jura department (Bourgogne-Franche-Comte region) with population around 25,000. Dole is located on Doubs River (tributary of Saone River), which by length (approx 453 km / 281 mi) is ranked France's 10th-longest.
Dole was the Franche-Comte region's capital until King Louis XIV of France (1638-1715, reign 1643-1715) conquered the region and moved its Parlement to Besanson. The town's university (1422-founded) was also moved to Besanson. Dole-Jura Airport (aka Dole-Besanson-Dijon Airport) is located in Tavaux - approx 7 km (4 mi) to the southwest. The Airport serves flights by Air Corsica (seasonal to Bastia Corsica), Ryanair (to Morocco and Oporto Portugal) and TUIfly Belgium (to Cagliari Sardinia Italy, plus seasonal charter flights to Croatia Brac and Greece - Corfu and Rhodes).
As cruise port, Dole-Jura was included in the 2019 schedule of the luxury hotel barge Deborah. The ship is 2016-built and owned by CroisiEurope - one of the world's largest river cruise companies. Next table shows CroisiEurope's 6-day itinerary between homeports Besancon and Dijon.
