During USA-Vietnam War (1966-1967), here was the American PBR (Patrol Boat) base. Before 19th century, it was Dong Khau Dao's capital, and one of Mekong Delta's biggest cities. Today, the city has 3 industrial zones (designated as A, C1, C), attracting many businesses from Vietnam's Mekong Delta region.
