Sarande (aka Saranda) is a port town in Vlore (southern Albania) and one of the main tourism travel destinations on Bregu (Albanian Riviera) - an Ionian Sea coastline. Sarande is approx 14 km (9 mi) east of Corfu Island (Greece) and has population around 20,000. Albania's other cruise ports include the country's largest port cities Durres (port to Tirana, Albania's capital) and Vlore.
Close to the town are the remains of the ancient Greek city Butrint (UNESCO site). Its Mediterranean climate and scenic coastline made Sarandе a popular destination for international tourists - by far one of Albania's most visited. Tourism is town's main industry. Between Butrint and Sarande, the beautiful beaches and Ksami Islands are best for diving and swimming.
