Vác (Vácz) is a Danube River cruise port and city in Hungary's Pest county, with population around 35,000. The town is a charming Danube destination, especially for tourists who enjoy historic downtowns, old church architecture, unusual museums and peaceful riverside walks.

Located 35 km/22 mi north of Hungary's capital city, Budapest, Vác is on the Danube's eastern bank, below the bend where the river changes course and flows south.

Major cruise companies visiting Vác as a full-day destination include VIVA Cruises and Scenic Cruises.

The next tables show a 7-night (round-trip) and a 4-night, Vac-visiting itinerary included in VIVA's 2027 schedule.

Vac's primary attractions include the Baroque Main Square, the Vác Cathedral of the Assumption (18th-century, modelled after Rome's St Peter's Basilica), the Memento Mori Exhibition (a famous underground display featuring naturally mummified 18th-19th-century citizens and ornate coffins), the Triumphal Arch of Vác (aka Diadalív/Kőkapu, a historic late-Baroque and neo-Classical monument), and the Danube Promenade/esplanade. The Bishop's Palace (aka Episcopal Palace/Püspöki palota) is a late-Baroque historic building that serves as the official residence for the Roman Catholic Diocese of Vác. The palace houses a museum for Roman and medieval artifacts.

Vác is a popular summer resort destination for Budapest's citizens.

The annual festival (held in July), Váci Világi Vigalom, features live performances by Hungarian bands and, occasionally, by famous international musicians.
