Carnival Liberty cabins review

The Carnival cruise ship Liberty features a total of 29 wheelchair-accessible cabins (for disabled passengers) and 18 Spa cabins (all with balconies). There are 33 different cabin categories available.

Connecting rooms (“family cabins”) are located on decks 1, 2, 6, 7, 8, 9, and 11. Connecting cabin grades include: 2 beds (4E), 3 beds (PT), 2-3 beds (8B), 2-4 beds, 2-3-4 beds (6A, 6B, 6C, 8C, 8D), and 4 beds (8F - Spa Balcony). Handicap-accessible staterooms (29 total) are offered in categories OS - Ocean Suite (1), Balcony (2), Oceanview (1), and Interior (25).

Below is a review of Carnival Liberty staterooms in terms of amenities, furniture, and complimentary services:

Each of the two Captain’s Suites includes a master bedroom (2 twin beds convertible to a king, Pullman bed), dressing area (vanity, large walk-in closet), large bathroom, separate living room (double sofa bed, coffee table, desk, armchairs), a second bathroom (with shower), fridge, and mini-bar.

Carnival Liberty Suites (Captain's, Grand, Ocean) come with king-sized beds, a living room (walk-in closet, desk, vanity table, chair, drawers, double sofa bed), private bathroom (toilet, shower, whirlpool bathtub, double sinks).

Premium Balcony (9B, 9C) and Extended Balcony cabins (8N, 8M) have twin beds convertible to a queen, ample closet/storage space, bathroom (shower), and a living area. Some “C” category cabins have an additional sofa bed for a third guest. These staterooms offer 50% larger balconies, three closets (in all balcony room grades), and full bathrooms. All balcony accommodations have a private step-out balcony with sliding glass doors, furnished with a table and patio chairs.

Guests in Spa cabins (category 8F / Balcony) enjoy the following complimentary amenities and perks (for two guests per stateroom only): unlimited access to all Spa Carnival facilities, two fitness classes (Yoga or Pilates), two metabolism tests, bathrobes, slippers, deluxe in-room bath products by Elemis (shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, vitamin-rich body lotion, hand and body soap), priority Spa reservations (must be made by 6 PM on embarkation day), and spa treatment discounts on port days (20% off first, 30% off second, 40% off third treatment).

Scenic Oceanview cabins have floor-to-ceiling slanted windows, two twin beds (convertible to a king), and a living area (sofa, coffee table, chairs). Some also feature a sofa bed for a third or fourth guest. Oceanview cabins include a large picture window, twin beds (convertible to queen), and a living area. Select units include a sofa bed and/or upper Pullman beds for additional guests.

Inside cabins with windows (category 4J - Obstructed View) have a picture window, while PT category cabins have porthole windows. Some 4J cabins feature an upper Pullman bed, while others have non-convertible twin beds. Some Porthole Inside staterooms include a sofa bed or upper bunks for third or fourth guests. Smaller Inside cabins come with bunk beds (upper/lower Pullman beds), a living area, and a bathroom with a shower.

All Carnival Liberty staterooms include the following standard and complimentary amenities: living area (with vanity and seating), smart HDTV (infotainment system with Internet access, on-demand movies, booking tools, and Room Service ordering), direct-dial phone, electronic safe, lifejackets (in the closet), hairdryer, en-suite bathroom (with toilet, shower, single-sink vanity, bathrobes, and an amenity basket replenished upon request), Carnival Comfort Bed System (custom beds), beach towels, mini-bar/fridge, individual air conditioning, and complimentary 24-hour room service. Bibles (Gideon version) are available upon request.

Bathroom amenities vary by cruise, so it's recommended to bring personal items. Samples may include toothpaste, mouthwash, dental floss, body lotion, razor, and antacids. A wall-mounted dispenser in the shower provides liquid soap and shampoo. Electric outlets are located at the desk/vanity area—one 110V outlet (3-pronged, US standard) and one 220V outlet (European standard). The bathroom has a 2-pin outlet suitable only for electric razors.

The ship's interactive TV system lets guests order movies, room service, and check their Sail & Sign account. The on-demand movie list includes about 25 titles, available for USD 5 per movie. Adult content costs USD 10. Based on satellite reception, complimentary TV channels may include: ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC, CNN (Domestic, International, Español), TCM (classic movies), Boomerang, Cartoon Network, TNT, TBS. Two free movie channels show films every three hours (starting at noon): one features PG-13 classics, the other G/PG-rated family favorites. Carnival-themed channels include Fun Finds TV, Cruise Director, Fun Aboard, Park West Art, Shore Tours, Ship Position, live webcams (forward and Lido Deck), Audible Funtimes, Photo, and Music. Sporting events (ESPN, ESPN2) are shown only at the Sports Bar and Seaside Theatre, not in cabins. TV connection ports are disabled to prevent linking personal devices.

Carnival’s beds are manufactured in Europe exclusively for the line. Bedding includes New Generation Pillows (100% cotton), hypoallergenic duvet with satin stripes, deluxe sheets (high-quality cotton), satin-striped pillowcases, and 8-inch (20 cm) spring mattresses (Carnival Comfort). Non-allergenic alternatives include 100% polyester blankets, cotton-polyester sheets (60/40 blend), and the same New Generation Pillows. Trundle beds do not use Carnival Comfort mattresses.

The Carnival Sail & Sign card acts as both the room key and onboard charge account. The card is used for all purchases and gratuities during the cruise. Cash is only accepted at the casino. Cards are issued to all passengers, including minors, upon boarding. Account balances can be checked at Guest Services or on the in-cabin smart TV.

Carnival-branded beach towels are provided in all staterooms and may be taken ashore. Extra towels are available for purchase ($22). Bathrobes (two) are standard in all suites and Spa cabins. Other cabin categories receive bathrobes upon request during turndown service on the first evening. Bathrobes are also available for purchase: $49 (adult) and $24 (children: ages 2-4 and 6-8).

Lifejackets are for emergency use only and are stored in cabin closets. Sizes available: adult, child, and infant.

Each cabin has a safe in the closet with approximate dimensions of 10 x 9 x 8 inches (25 x 23 x 20 cm). Safes can be accessed using any magnetic strip card. It is recommended to use an expired or reward card instead of a valid credit card or driver’s license. Some safes use keypads instead of card access. Ship security can open any safe if necessary.

All cabin mini-bars are stocked with premium liquor ($6–$9.25), beer ($6.25), energy drinks ($5), soft drinks ($2), and bottled water ($3.75).

In-cabin babysitting is not available (see Camp Ocean for more information). Cribs are provided upon request at no charge. Complimentary high chairs and booster seats are available in Main Dining Rooms.

Smoking is prohibited in all cabins, suites, and balconies. Designated smoking areas include: 70’s Nightclub (not on the dance floor), Casino (designated zones), and Casino Bar. Outdoor smoking (including cigars and pipes) is allowed on Deck 3 portside (forward) and Deck 11 portside.

Funville@Sea is a complimentary intranet service with access to onboard activities, event schedules, menus, deck plans, Fun Times newspaper, FunAshore tour guides, Carnival news, weather updates, and a shipboard social network for messaging and tracking fellow guests. This service is available via the in-cabin infotainment system and FunHub stations around the ship.

Current daily gratuities are USD 12.95 per person (standard cabins) and USD 13.95 per person (suites). Suite passengers enjoy additional perks, including priority embarkation, debarkation, and tendering, priority dining reservations, complimentary bottled water, one free bag of laundry per cruise, and enhanced turndown service.

Since 2017, Carnival has offered guests the option to customize stateroom steward service—morning, evening, or both. Guests may also request specific amenities such as bathrobes, extra pillows, blankets, and hangers, as well as specify bed linen change frequency. Preferences are indicated on a service menu card in each stateroom. If no preferences are selected, cabins are serviced twice daily by default.

Furniture details for Carnival Liberty staterooms can be viewed on the ship’s cabin plans above.
