Carnival Dream cabins review
The Carnival cruise ship Dream has a total of 35 wheelchair-accessible cabins for passengers with disabilities and 61 Cloud 9 Spa cabins (including 20 Interior, 4 Oceanview, 35 Balcony, and 4 Suites). There are 34 cabin categories in total.
Connecting rooms ("family cabins") are located on decks 1, 2, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, and 11. Connecting cabin categories include: 2 beds (4E, 8P), 3 beds (PT, 6L), 3 beds (6A), 2-3 beds (8B, 8E, 8D), 2-4 beds (8A, 8F), and 2-3-4 beds (6M, 7C). The 35 accessible cabins are distributed among the following categories: OS-Ocean Suite (1), Balcony (2), Oceanview (13), Interior (15), and Small Interior (4).
Below is an overview of Carnival Dream staterooms, including amenities, furnishings, and complimentary services:
Carnival Dream Suites (Grand, Ocean, Cloud 9 Spa) are equipped with two twin beds (convertible to a king), a dressing area with walk-in closet, vanity table and chair, private bathroom (toilet, shower, bathtub, bidet, double sinks), and a balcony with sliding glass doors (table, patio chairs, glass-panel railing). Some GS-OS suites also have a single or double sofabed for a third or fourth guest.
All Carnival Cloud 9 Spa cabins offer exclusive access to the spa facilities on Panorama Deck 11. These include Spa Suites (SS), Spa Balcony (8S, 8P), Spa Oceanview (6S), and Spa Inside (4S). Cloud 9 Spa accommodations provide the following complimentary perks (for two guests per cabin): unlimited access to the Thermal Suite and Thalassotherapy Pool, two complimentary fitness classes (Yoga or Pilates), two metabolism tests, one Scrub Kit for the Thermal Suite, bathrobes, slippers, deluxe Elemis bath amenities (shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, body lotion, hand and body soaps), and priority spa reservations (by 6 pm on embarkation day). Additional spa treatment discounts apply while the ship is docked: 20% (first treatment), 30% (second), and 40% (third).
Premium Vista Balcony cabins, located at the aft corners of the ship, offer wraparound balconies and suite-style amenities. Extended Balcony cabins (categories 8N and 8M) are also located aft and feature 50% larger balconies, three closets, and full bathrooms with showers. Cove Balcony cabins have floor-to-ceiling doors leading to a partially enclosed veranda.
Oceanview cabins feature a picture window and twin beds that don’t convert to a king when both upper Pullman beds are used. Some rooms include a sofa and/or upper beds for a third or fourth guest. Spa Oceanview cabins may have obstructed views and can include a Pullman bed for a fourth guest.
Inside cabins with windows are available in two categories: Porthole Window (PT) on decks 1 and 2, and Picture Window (4J) on decks 6, 7, 9, and 10 (Lido). Some Porthole cabins include a sofa bed for a third guest, while some Picture Window rooms have a sofa and/or upper Pullman beds for third and fourth guests. Small Inside cabins are outfitted with bunk beds (upper/lower Pullman), a living area with vanity and chair, and a bathroom with a shower.
All Carnival Dream staterooms include the following standard and complimentary amenities: a living area with vanity and seating, smart HDTV with infotainment system (Internet, on-demand movies, reservations, room service), direct-dial phone, electronic safe, lifejackets (in closet), hairdryer, en-suite bathroom (toilet, shower, single-sink vanity, bathrobes, amenity basket replenished upon request), Carnival Comfort Bed System, beach towels, mini-bar/fridge, individual air-conditioning, and 24-hour room service. Gideon Bibles are available upon request.
The Carnival Sail & Sign card (cashless onboard credit account) doubles as the stateroom key. This card allows guests to charge purchases and gratuities to their personal account throughout the cruise. It is issued to all passengers (including minors) upon boarding and must be used for all onboard transactions, as cash is only accepted in the casino. Account balances can be checked at the Guest Services desk or via the smart TV in the cabin.
In-cabin TV programming varies with satellite reception and includes channels such as ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC, CNN (Domestic, International, Español), TCM, Boomerang, Cartoon Network, TNT, and TBS. Two complimentary movie channels run films every three hours from 12 noon—one with all-time favorites (PG-13) and another with family favorites (G/PG). Carnival-themed channels include Fun Finds TV, Cruise Director, Fun Aboard, Park West Art, Shore Tours, Ship Position, live webcams, Audible Funtimes, Photo, and Music. ESPN and ESPN2 are available only on big screens in the Sports Bar and Seaside Theatre. TV connection ports are disabled and cannot be used with personal devices.
Bathroom amenities vary per cruise, so guests are encouraged to bring their own. Sample items may include toothpaste, mouthwash, dental floss, body lotion, razors, and antacids. Each bathroom has a wall-mounted dispenser with liquid soap and shampoo. Power outlets include one 110V (US standard) and one 220V (European standard) located at the desk/vanity. The bathroom’s 2-pin plug is for electric razors only.
Carnival beds are Europe-manufactured and include 100% cotton New Generation Pillows, hypoallergenic satin-striped duvet, high-quality cotton sheets, satin-striped pillowcases, and an 8-inch (20 cm) Carnival Comfort spring mattress. Non-allergenic bedding (100% polyester blankets, 60/40 cotton-polyester sheets and pillowcases) is also available. Note: trundle beds do not use Carnival Comfort mattresses.
Carnival-logoed beach towels are provided in all cabins and may be taken ashore. They are also available for purchase ($22). Two bathrobes are included in all suites and Cloud 9 Spa cabins. Additional robes can be requested or purchased ($49 for adults, $24 for children’s sizes 2–4 and 6–8). For all other accommodations, bathrobes are available upon request during first evening turndown service.
Lifejackets (for emergency use only) are stored in each stateroom’s closet and are available in adult, child, and infant sizes. Safes (located in the closet) measure approximately 10 x 9 x 8 inches (25 x 23 x 20 cm) and can be accessed using any magnetic stripe card. It is recommended to use an expired or rewards card rather than a credit card or driver’s license. Some safes use keypads with personal codes. Ship security can open safes if needed.
All mini-bars are stocked with premium liquors ($6–$9.25), beer ($6.25), energy drinks ($5), sodas ($2), and bottled water ($3.75). In-cabin babysitting is not available. Complimentary cribs are provided upon request. High chairs and booster seats are available in Main Dining Rooms.
Self-service laundry is available at an extra charge: $3.25 per washer or dryer load and $1.50 per detergent/softener box (from vending machines). Launderettes (open 6:30 am–12 midnight) are located on all cabin decks and are equipped with 2–3 washers, 2–3 dryers, and 1 ironing board with iron. Machines are coinless and operate with Sail & Sign cards. Washing machines are closed while the ship is in port; only dryers and irons may be used. Valet laundry service is available through the cabin steward. Wash-and-press items cost $2–$7.50, and dry-cleaning is $3–$10.50 per item.
Smoking is not permitted in staterooms or on balconies. Designated smoking areas on Carnival Dream include: Caliente Nightclub (excluding the dance floor), Casino (designated areas), Casino Bar, Deck 5 portside (forward, midship, aft), and Deck 11 starboard (midship, aft). Smoking is permitted for cigarettes and e-cigarettes in these locations, and cigars/pipes are allowed in designated outdoor areas.
Funville@Sea is a complimentary intranet service offering information on onboard activities, daily events, restaurant and bar menus, deck maps, Fun Times (daily newspaper), FunAshore tour guides, cruise news, weather updates, and a social network for passenger messaging and tracking. The service is accessible via the in-cabin infotainment system and FunHub stations located throughout the ship.
Carnival Dream's current gratuities are USD 12.95 per person per day for standard cabins and USD 13.95 for suite guests. Suite perks include: priority embarkation, debarkation, and tendering; priority dining reservations; complimentary bottled water in the cabin; one complimentary laundry bag per cruise; and enhanced turndown service.
Since 2017, Carnival allows guests to customize steward service by selecting morning, evening, or both (twice daily). Guests may also request additional amenities such as bathrobes, extra pillows, blankets, and hangers, and specify bed linen change frequency. Preferences are selected via a menu card in each cabin. If no selections are made, accommodations are serviced twice daily by default.
