Carnival Spirit cabins review

The Carnival cruise ship Spirit has a total of 17 wheelchair-accessible cabins (for disabled passengers) and no Spa cabins (with exclusive access to Spa Carnival facilities). There are 28 different cabin categories available.

Connecting staterooms ("family cabins") are located on decks 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8. The list of connecting cabin grades includes: 2 beds (VS, 4B, 4C, 4D, 7A), 2-3 beds (8A, 8D, 8E, 8M), and 2-3-4 beds (8B, 8C, 8F, 8K, 8J). The 17 handicap-accessible staterooms are in the following categories: GS-Grand Suite (1), Balcony (8), Oceanview (4), and Interior (4).

Below is an overview of Carnival Spirit staterooms, covering amenities, furniture, and complimentary services:

Carnival Spirit Suites (Grand, Vista, Ocean, Junior) include two twin beds (convertible to a king), a dressing area (walk-in closet, vanity table, chair), a private bathroom (WC, shower, whirlpool bathtub, bidet, double sinks). Some GS-OS suites feature a single or double sofa bed and/or an upper bed for a third or fourth guest. Vista Suites are located aft and include larger wraparound balconies.

All balcony staterooms have a private balcony with sliding glass doors, equipped with a table, patio chairs, sun loungers, and a railing with a clear glass panel. Premium Vista Balcony cabins are located at the ship’s aft corners and offer suite-like amenities, including wraparound balconies. Extended Balcony cabins come in four grades—8N, 8M, 8K, and 8J—and have 50% larger balconies, three closets, and a full bathroom with shower. Some 8N-8M rooms include a sofa bed for a third guest. Select 8K-8J cabins may also have a sofa and/or upper bunk for a third or fourth person.

Oceanview cabins feature a large picture window and two twin beds (convertible to a queen). Some also include a sofa and/or an upper Pullman bed for a third or fourth guest.

Inside cabins with windows fall under category 4K. These have obstructed views and French doors (sliding glass). Some feature a sofa and/or Pullman bed for a third or fourth guest. Some standard Interior cabins include an upper/bunk bed for a third guest.

All Carnival Spirit staterooms offer standard complimentary amenities, including a living area (vanity, seating), smart HDTV (with infotainment system, Internet access, on-demand movies, reservations, and room service ordering), direct-dial phone, electronic safe, life jackets (in the closet), hairdryer, en-suite bathroom (WC, shower, single-sink vanity, bathrobes, bathroom amenity basket replenished upon request), custom-made beds (Carnival Comfort Bed System), beach towels, mini-bar/fridge, individual air conditioning, and 24-hour room service. Bibles (Gideon version) are available upon request.

Bathroom amenities vary, so it is advisable to bring your own. Samples may include toothpaste, mouthwash, dental floss, body lotion, razors, and antacids. Bathrooms have a wall-mounted dispenser for liquid soap and shampoo. Electric outlets are located at the desk/vanity area—one 110V (3-pronged, USA grounded) and one 220V (European standard). The bathroom's 2-pin plug can be used for electric razors only.

The Carnival Sail & Sign card (cashless onboard credit account) also serves as your stateroom key. This credit program enables purchases and gratuities to be charged directly to a personal account during the cruise. The card is assigned to each guest (including minors) upon boarding and must be used for all onboard transactions, as cash is only accepted at the casino. Balance updates are available at Guest Services or via the smart TV in your stateroom.

The ship’s interactive TV system allows guests to order on-demand movies, request room service, and check the Sail & Sign account. The on-demand movie selection includes approximately 25 titles at USD 5 per movie. Adult content films are USD 10. Depending on satellite reception, complimentary in-cabin TV channels include: ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC, CNN (Domestic, International, Español), TCM (classic movies), Boomerang, Cartoon Network, TNT, and TBS. Two complimentary movie channels run films every three hours, starting at 12 noon—one showing all-time favorites (PG-13), and the other family favorites (G/PG). Carnival-themed channels include Fun Finds TV, Cruise Director, Fun Aboard, Park West Art, Shore Tours, Ship Position, live webcam views (forward and lido deck), Audible Funtimes, Photo, and Music. Sports events (ESPN, ESPN2) are shown only on big screens in the Sports Bar and Seaside Theatre. All TV input ports are disabled, so personal devices cannot be connected.

Carnival beds are custom-made in Europe exclusively for the company. They include New Generation Pillows (100% cotton), hypoallergenic satin-striped duvets, high-quality cotton sheets, ultra-fine satin-striped pillowcases, and 8-inch (20 cm) spring mattresses branded “Carnival Comfort.” Non-allergenic bedding is available on request and includes polyester blankets, 60/40 cotton-polyester sheets and pillowcases, and cotton pillows. Note: Trundle beds do not have Carnival Comfort mattresses.

Carnival-logoed beach towels are available in each cabin for use ashore. They can also be purchased for USD 22. Bathrobes (two) are provided in all suites, with additional robes available upon request. In non-suite cabins, robes are provided (upon request) during the turndown service on the first evening. Bathrobes are also available for purchase: USD 49 (adult size) and USD 24 (children’s sizes: ages 2-4 and 6-8).

Life jackets are for emergency use only (not for pools) and are located in each stateroom closet. They are available in adult, child, and infant sizes. Each stateroom also features a safe located in the closet, with approximate dimensions (inches/cm): width (10/25), height (9/23), and depth (8/20). Safes can be opened using any magnetic strip card; it is recommended to use an expired card rather than a valid credit card. Some safes have keypads with personal codes. Security staff can also open safes if needed.

Mini-bars in all cabins and suites are stocked with premium liquor (USD 6–9.25), beer (USD 6.25), energy drinks (USD 5), soft drinks (USD 2), and bottled water (USD 3.75). In-cabin babysitting is not available. Complimentary cribs are provided upon request. High chairs and booster seats are available in the main dining rooms.

Smoking in cabins and balconies is prohibited. Designated smoking areas on Carnival Spirit include Frankenstein’s Lab Nightclub (not on the dance floor), Casino (designated zones), and Casino Bar. Outdoor smoking (including cigars and pipes) is allowed only on Deck 3 (midship, starboard), Deck 10 (forward, starboard), and Deck 11 (forward, midship, aft, starboard).

Funville@Sea is a complimentary intranet service offering onboard activity schedules, bar and restaurant menus, deck plans, the Fun Times newspaper, FunAshore tour guides, Carnival news, weather updates, and onboard social networking. It is accessible via the infotainment system in all cabins and at FunHub stations around the ship.

Current gratuity rates are USD 12.95 per person per day for standard cabins and USD 13.95 for suite guests. Suite perks include priority embarkation/debarkation/tendering, priority main dining reservations, complimentary bottled water, one complimentary bag of laundry per cruise, and enhanced turndown service.

Since 2017, Carnival allows guests to customize their stateroom steward service by choosing morning, evening, or both (twice daily) service. Guests can also request additional amenities such as bathrobes, extra pillows, blankets, and hangers, and specify linen change frequency. Preferences can be selected from the service menu card placed in each stateroom. If no selections are made, the default is twice-daily service.

You can view all furniture details on the Carnival Spirit cabin plans in the table above.
