HAL-Holland America Line has detailed its 2027 Canada and New England season, with sailings scheduled from May through October aboard Volendam and Zuiderdam. The programme spans 20 departures across 13 itineraries, ranging from 7 to 14 days, designed to highlight the region’s maritime heritage, French cultural influences, and natural scenery. Nearly all voyages include scenic navigation of the St. Lawrence River, with calls at Montréal or Québec City.
A new addition to the schedule is a 9-day “Lighthouses & Harbors of Canada and New England” voyage on Volendam, sailing from Montréal to New York on October 2nd, 2027. The itinerary includes visits to up to 10 lighthouses across 22 shore excursions, including Maine’s Portland Head Light and Nova Scotia’s Peggy’s Cove. Ports of call include Halifax, Charlottetown, and Bar Harbor.
The line will also continue its thematic “Canada & New England Circle” voyages. A 10-day Montréal round-trip focuses on the heritage of New France with visits to Québec City, Saguenay, Prince Edward Island, St. Pierre, and St. John’s. Another option, the 11-day “Maritimes and New France” itinerary, travels from Montréal to Boston and incorporates visits to 5 national parks, including Prince Edward Island National Park, Jacques-Cartier, Gros Morne, Mingan Archipelago, and Saguenay Fjord. Calls include St. Anthony, St. John’s (with late departure), Corner Brook, Halifax (late departure), Québec City, Saguenay, Baie-Comeau, and Havre-Saint-Pierre.
On board, the line will continue its “Destination Dining” concept, offering regional dishes such as Maine lobster, Prince Edward Island mussels, Boston baked beans, and poutine. Shore excursions are designed to connect travellers with local communities, from meeting lobster fishermen in Charlottetown to sampling maple products in Saint John, New Brunswick.
The season includes multiple itineraries:
- Volendam will operate four different 7-day sailings between Boston and Montréal or round-trip from Boston, alongside longer 10- and 11-day voyages featuring varied ports in Québec and Newfoundland.
- A 14-day “Atlantic & Colonial New England” voyage will reposition Volendam from Fort Lauderdale to Montréal, with calls including Norfolk, Prince Edward Island, and an overnight in Québec City.
