Silversea Cruises announced it hoped to be able to sail its Silver Origin ship in the Galapagos Islands from November 2020.

Silver Origin is the newbuild that Silversea received in summer 2020. The vessel is specially constructed for the conditions of the Galapagos. The building of the new luxury liner was carried out in the Netherlands by De Hoop Shipyard. Most recently, the cruise company hoped to be able to commence a transfer to the Galapagos Islands on August 22, 2020, but the plan did not work out.

The new boat is currently docked in Manta Ecuador, preparing for her service. Among other things, there is training for the behavior of the crew in the current times.

Silver Origin is capable of cruising in the islands year-round and has a capacity of up to 100 passengers. Origin's Silversea Expeditions fleetmates are Silver Galapagos (1990), Silver Cloud (1994) and Silver Explorer (2008).
