MSC Cruises is going ahead with South African itineraries, despite travel bans in the country due to the COVID Omicron variant.

MSC Orchestra is still scheduled to embark from Durban (South Africa), sailing back and forth in the Indian Ocean between December 2021-April 2022.

MSC Orchestra set sail on Tuesday, November 30, along the South African coast between Cape Town and Durban, where she is expected to arrive on December 2 and set sail on her first voyage of the season on December 6.

The ship's last port of call was Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (Canary Islands) on November 17.

Although the MSC Cruises ship was back in service for a Mediterranean season in July 2021, her repositioning voyage from Europe to South Africa had not been sold as a normal passenger cruise, meaning it had no Europeans onboard who could not return home.
