Chalonnes-sur-Loire is a Loire River cruise port and town in France's Pays de la Loire region (Maine-et-Loire department) with population around 7,000. Chalonnes is approx 27 km (17 mi/road distance) southwest of Angers (on Maine River) and approx 85 km (52 mi) east-northeast from Nantes.
Chalonnes is in the Loire Valley (2000-listed as UNESCO World Heritage Site) and its economy is largely based on viticulture/winegrowing and tourism. Chalonnes' Port Garou has a 600-m long quay and in the past served cargo barges transporting coal, lime and wine. These barges went down the Loire River to Nantes.
As cruise port, Chalonnes is included in the schedule of one of Europe's largest river cruise companies - CroisiEurope.
