La Digue Island is Seychelles' 3rd largest by population (around 3,000). It is located west of Felicite Island and east of Praslin. By land area (10 km2 / 4 mi2) it is Seychelles' 5th largest (after Mahe, Praslin, Silhouette, Assumption). Most of the residents live in the west coast villages La Passe (linked by ferry to Mahe and Praslin) and La Reunion.

Cruise ships to La Digue Island dock (anchor) at La Passe - port town on the western coast.

As airport, La Digue is served by Seychelles International Airport (in Victoria-Mahe), from where tourists arrive on ferries (usually via Praslin). La Digue is small, which makes it great for strolling and biking. Island's current economy is largely based on tourism. The best-known attractions are its museum and beautiful beaches (the most popular being Grand Anse and Anse Source d'Argent). In former times, the local economy was based on agriculture - production of vanilla and corpa (dried meat of the coconut).

In the island's interior, Veuve Nature Reserve is home to the rare bird Seychelles Paradise Flycatcher (only about 100 in existence). Island's highest elevation point (Mt Belle Vue) is 300 m (980 ft) and is located in the central part. In the surrounding waters can be spotted sharks and rays.

La Digue Island offers plenty of accommodation and outdoor activities, with over 20 guesthouses and hotels, restaurants, a scuba diving center. Tourists can enjoy boat tours or snorkeling. In Veuve is offered a guided hiking tour.
