Rendsburg (Germany Schleswig-Holstein)

Rendsburg is an Eider River/Elbe River cruise port and town on Kiel Canal (linking to the North Sea-Baltic Sea) in Germany's Schleswig-Holstein state (Kreis district) with a population of around 30,000.

The settlement (under its Danish name Reynoldsburgh) was first mentioned in late-12th-century. Following the Denmark-Germany war (1864), in 1866 became part of Prussia. After 1866 the town was annexed by Prussia. Since that time it has remained part of the Kingdom of Prussia (1701-1918).

Since 1895 (when Kiel Canal was opened) Rendsburg started to develop as a seaport - inland port accessible by large, sea-going cargo ships. Among tourists, the town is best-known for the Rendsburg High Bridge (1913-opened, 2,5 km long railway bridge over Kiel Canal), Stadthalle (16th-century Town Hall), Marienkirche (13th-century church), Kiel Canal Tunnel (world's longest pedestrian tunnel), Jewish Museum, Printing Museum.
