Skopelos Island is in western Aegean Sea and part of Northern Sporades islands. Skopelos is is located east of Pelion Peninsula (mainland Greece), east of Skiathos Island and west of Alonissos Island. Regularly scheduled ferry service to Skopelos and the rest of Sporades islands is offered with departures from Agios Konstantinos (Cyprus) and Volos (mainland Greece). Ferries are both high-speed and conventional cargo-passenger ships, operated by the companies HELLENIC SEAWAYS, SeaJets, Anes Lines, Golden Star Ferries, Aegean Flying Dolphins. - Fun fact is that Skopelos is matrilineal - wealth is passed on through the female line. By custom, parents of the bride provide the couple with house (and other properties), which remain in bride's name.
