Verona is an Adige River (Po River) cruise port and the capital city of Italy's Veneto region. By population (around 265,000, metro over 0,7 million) it is ranked the 2nd-largest in northeastern Italy (after Venezia). Verona is linked to Rome City by an east-west railway line connecting Milano with Venice. The main train station (Porta Nuova) is to the south of downtown and is considered Italy's 9th busiest, serving over 68,000 passengers daily (around 25 million per year). Porta Vescovo station serves trains between Venice and Porta Nuova.
Verona Airport is located approx 5 km (3 ml) southwest of downtown and serves around 3 million passengers per year. The airport is linked via regularly scheduled frequent buses with Porta Nuova (train station). The airport serves both domestic and international direct flights.
