Chioggia is a small port town (population around 25,000) part of Venice's metropolitan area. The port is on the Chioggia Island, located at the entrance to Venice Lagoon (some 25 km / 16 ml south of the City of Venice, Italy). A causeways connects the island to Sottomarina and the mainland.
The town of Chioggia features several canals (the main one is named Canale Vena), narrow streets, medieval churches (built in the 16th-17th centuries), Chioggia Cathedral. The town of Sottomarina has around 80 hotels and campgrounds for seafront tourism.
