Costa Cruises' ship Costa Serena has a global voyage from Tokyo to Buenos Aires, scheduled for October 18 to December 22, 2026. The 66-night itinerary will visit popular destinations in Southeast Asia and Oceania, the South Pacific and Australia, and South America, grouping 24 ports in 15 countries and 14 islands.
From Tokyo, the ship will navigate the familiar urban pulse before pausing amid Keelung for glimpses of Taipei’s blend of tradition and modernity, and Hong Kong’s skyline and temples. In the Philippines, passengers will journey through emerald jungles and coral reefs. A tranquil overnight anchorage in Bali will allow time to immerse in the island’s spiritual rhythms and sunlit shores. Continuing south, calls at Darwin, Cairns, Brisbane, and Sydney invite exploration of Australia’s wildlife and rugged coastline.
Across the Pacific, the itinerary unfolds with sojourns to Nouméa and Lifou in New Caledonia, Suva in Fiji, Tonga, Rarotonga in the Cook Islands, and Tahiti. Beyond these, the voyage includes rare landfalls at Pitcairn and Easter Island—destinations seldom reached by cruise vessels.
The final segment navigates the dramatic waters of Patagonia and Tierra del Fuego, calling at San Antonio in Chile—gateway to Santiago—before pressing south through Puerto Montt, Puerto Chacabuco, and Punta Arenas. The ship will round Cape Horn, overnight in Ushuaia—the southernmost city on Earth—and conclude at Puerto Madryn, where opportunities for whale and penguin viewing await, before docking in Buenos Aires on December 22nd.
As the itinerary is modular, it can be broken into three smaller segments: Tokyo–Sydney (26 days), Sydney–San Antonio (27 days), and San Antonio–Buenos Aires (15 days).
Prior to departure, Costa Serena will undergo a comprehensive dry-dock refit in November 2025. This extensive renewal, part of Costa’s EUR 200 million fleet modernization, will introduce new public spaces, redesigned suites, pools, bars, and contemporary dining venues including Archipelago (with Michelin-star chef menus), Pizzeria Pummid’Oro, and Sushino@Costa.
Once refitted, the vessel’s deployment path is set: the world voyage in late 2026, a season in South America’s winter waters early 2027, followed by Mediterranean itineraries in summer 2027.
