Celebrity Cruises' newbuild Celebrity Apex was ceremonially welcomed by her sisterships off CocoCay Bahamas - an anchorage site near Royal Caribbean Group's private island in the North Caribbean country.
For Apex this is the debut of her upcoming service. Just a few weeks ago the new cruise ship left her manufacturing shipyard in Saint-Nazaire, France.
Celebrity Apex is an Edge-class ship, making her an identical sister to Celebrity Edge. Celebrity Beyond is the third cruise ship in the class being built.
Following her completion, Celebrity Apex sailed to the Azores for a technical call and after it was successfully completed she made her way across the Atlantic Ocean. There she was welcomed by the sistership Celebrity Edge and the fleetmates Equinox, Reflection, Silhouette and Summit.
For the first time, Apex met her fleetmates and for the first time her sistership, who is identical by design and construction.
However, due to the COVID crisis, it is still unknown when Celebrity Apex will set off on a cruise with passengers for the first time.
