Review of Celebrity Reflection

Launched in 2012, Celebrity Reflection is the 5th and last of the Solstice-class Celebrity cruise ships, together with Equinox, Silhouette, Solstice and Eclipse. Celebrity Cruises Reflection ship is scheduled for "Celebrity Revolution" drydock refurbishment on February 2, 2023.

History - construction and ownership

Celebrity Cruises line was founded in 1988 as the Greece-based Chandris Line (cruise shipping operations between 1974-1996). In 1997, Royal Caribbean International (RCI) merged with "Celebrity Cruises Ltd" to become "Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd" (RCCL). The "Χ" on ship funnels is the Greek letter chi (standing for "Chandris"). Common features of Celebrity Cruises ships include aft located glass-walled dining rooms, signature alternate dining venues, bars and lounges, spacious Atrium lobby areas, large number of balcony staterooms, large sundecks with swimming pools, The Retreat (adults-only sundeck with full-size swimming pool, Jacuzzi, cabanas, poolside full bar service). Rooftop Terrace (top-deck outdoor lounge-restaurant-cinema), large Spa (with Thermal Suites), premium retail shops selling top-brand merchandise.

The 125,366-ton, 3,042-passenger cruise ship Celebrity Reflection is a cruise ship with an extraordinary size, innovative interior design and one more deck added. The newest ship in the Celebrity Cruises fleet, Celebrity Reflection is the 5th of the series and last in the highly well received Solstice class. The capacity of passengers is over 3000, and they have the comfort of a variety of stateroom categories, plus suites. Reflection's godmothers are four female employees of Celebrity who have been affected by breast cancer. The ship sailed on her maiden voyage on October 12, 2012.

Cruise itinerary program

Celebrity Reflection itinerary program is based on Eastern and Western Caribbean cruises with departures from Miami FL. During summer, the Reflection sails in the Mediterranean leaving from Rome, with Transatlantic repositioning crossings.

Cabins

Celebrity Reflection has a total number of 1523 cabins (of which 108 Suites, 1183 Balcony rooms) in 33 grades. Most Celebrity Reflection staterooms are 195-sq.foot Balcony rooms. 85% of ship's accommodations have private balcony views. 30 are the wheelchair accessible rooms. The largest aboard Celebrity Reflection are the Reflection Suites (1635 ft2).

Shipboard dining options - Food and Drinks

The main dining area on Celebrity Reflection, Opus, occupies space on ship's third and fourth decks. Opus is quite elegant, decorated in browns and silvers, with white tablecloths and crystal. The vast space accommodates 40 more seats than on Celebrity Silhouette, but the tables are too close together, which makes conversation difficult. Passengers in AquaClass staterooms or suites eat at Blu, which offers lighter "spa-inspired" cuisine. They have the option to eat in Opus MDR if they prefer such an experience. Reflection offers a number of for-fee venues, including Qsine (for US$45 per person), Italian steakhouse Tuscan Grill (US$45), French-continental Murano (US$45), D.I.Y. steak experience Lawn Club Grill (US$40), creperie Bistro on 5 (US$10) and The Porch (US$5, panini restaurant open for breakfast and lunch). Qsine diners can order on iPads, then waiters bring the food in the order of choosing.
