Celebrity Silhouette Review
Review of Celebrity Silhouette
The 2011-built Celebrity Silhouette cruise ship is the fourth of the Solstice-class Celebrity liners, with sisterships Equinox, Eclipse, Solstice, and Reflection. Celebrity Silhouette was scheduled for her "Celebrity Revolution" drydock refurbishment on January 24, 2020.
The vessel (IMO number 9837468) is currently Malta-flagged (MMSI 248939000) and registered in Valletta.
History - Construction and Ownership
Celebrity Cruises was founded in 1988 as the Greece-based Chandris Line (operating cruises between 1974-1996). In 1997, Royal Caribbean International (RCI) merged with Celebrity Cruises Ltd. to form Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. (RCCL). The "X" on Celebrity ship funnels is the Greek letter chi, representing "Chandris." Key features of Celebrity Cruises ships include aft-facing glass-walled dining rooms, signature specialty dining venues, upscale lounges and bars, expansive atrium lobbies, a high percentage of balcony staterooms, large sundecks with pools, The Retreat (adults-only area with full-size pool, Jacuzzi, cabanas, and bar service), Rooftop Terrace (an outdoor lounge-restaurant-cinema), spacious Spas with Thermal Suites, and premium retail shops offering luxury brand merchandise.
The 2,900-passenger Celebrity Silhouette offers more attractions than her earlier sisterships. Designed with eco-friendly features, she includes multiple dining venues, a real grass Lawn Club, and elegant glass and marble interiors. Silhouette was the first in the fleet to debut The Porch restaurant, Lawn Club Grill (with private Alcoves and an Art Studio), and The Hideaway adults-only retreat.
Decks and Cabins
Celebrity Silhouette staterooms (1,449 total, across 30 categories) include 66 Suites, 1,149 Balcony cabins, 70 Oceanviews, and 140 Inside cabins. Most staterooms are 195 ft² (18 m²), and around 85% of all accommodations feature a private step-out balcony, typically sized at 55 ft² (5 m²). There are 30 wheelchair-accessible cabins. The largest accommodations are the Penthouse Suites, at 1,290 ft² (120 m²), with a 390 ft² (36 m²) terrace.
The ship has 15 decks, 14 of which are accessible to guests, with 8 housing staterooms.

The ship's drydock refurbishment took place in 2020 (January 3 - February 13) in Freeport, Bahamas. The USD 70 million upgrade was part of the fleetwide "Celebrity Revolution" renovation program.
The refurbishment added six new staterooms (two Sunset Suites and four Interior cabins), upgraded all staterooms with new furniture, RFID door locks (programmable, wristband and card access), Bluetooth connectivity, and refurbished bathrooms.
