Basseterre (Port Zante, St Kitts Island) welcomed passengers from 4 cruise ships, of which 3 belong to one cruise company, Celebrity Cruises.
Celebrity Apex, Celebrity Equinox, Celebrity Constellation, and AIDA's ship AIDAluna docked on the island on Tuesday, December 7.
After the difficult year, this is a boost for the local economy and the inhabitants of St. Kitts who are involved in the tourism sector. The Caribbean cruise season is booming, and St. Kitts made agreements with all cruise operators interested in visiting. It was settled that only licensed taxi/tour operators, seaport officials, attraction tour guides, and cruise-related personnel will work with passengers.
The island is already capable of safely operating at full capacity.
A total of 28 cruise ships visited the island in November, bringing ~41,000 tourists to Basseterre.
In December, 60 vessels from different companies, including AIDA, Celebrity, MSC, RCI-Royal Caribbean, Seabourn, Viking OCEAN, and other are scheduled to visit Port Zante.
