Saint-Leu-d'Esserent is an Oise River/Seine cruise port and town (population around 5,000) located approx 70 km (40 mi) north of Paris (road distance/via highway A3 Autoroute). Saint-Leu is in France's Oise department (Hauts-de-France region) and on the Oise River's right bank.
Just ~3 km (2 mi) to the southeast from Saint-Leu is Chantilly - visited via buses as a cruise shore excursion destination. The town of Chantilly (population around 10,000) is popular for the Chateau de Chantilly (14th-19th-century built castle/1358-1882) comprised of two attached buildings - Petit Chateau and Grand Chateau.
Oise River originates in Belgium (Hainaut Province), it has length approx 340 km (212 mi) and crosses the Belgium-France border after ~20 km (12 mi). Oise River flows into the Seine at Paris City's suburb Conflans-Sainte-Honorine.

Saint-Leu-d'Esserent's best-known tourist attractions are Eglise Prieurale de Saint-Leu-d'Esserent (Priory Church/12th-century) and Chateau de la Guesdiere (17th-century castle currently housing the town hall and the municipal museum/open in the summer and only on the weekends/May-September).
Saint-Leu has a 48-hectare / 0,5 km2 nautical and leisure park featuring a beach (open to swimming), mini-golf course, multi-sport facilities (bicross, fitness trail, archery) as well as a 2 km of scenic walkways (walking/cycling path) along the river's (banks between Saint-Leu Bridge and the barges) and is accessible throughout the entire year. Leisure facilities also include Hotel de l'Oise and Parc de la Garenne. In the summer are organized tourism-targeting events like "100% Picardy Market" (June), river cruises (July-August), and the River Festival (September).
