Pontoise is an Oise RIver/Seine cruise port and a suburban town (population around 30,000) located approx 28 km (18 mi) northwest of downtown Paris. Pontoise is part of the town Cergy-Pontoise (2004-established, population around 210,000) and in France's Val-d'Oise departement (Ile-de-France region). The neighboring Cergy is the department's de facto capital while Pontoise is the prefecture's official capital.

Oise River originates in Belgium (Hainaut Province), it has length approx 340 km (212 mi) and crosses the Belgium-France border after ~20 km (12 mi). Oise River flows into the Seine at Paris City's suburb Conflans-Sainte-Honorine.

Pontoise is the terminus on Paris RER (Regional Express Network) RER C rail line and serves Paris City's suburban trains leaving from the capital's train stations Gare Saint-Lazare and Gare du Nord.

As cruise port, Pontoise was introduced by CroisiEurope in 2023 as part of the Raymonde barge's schedule.
