Below is a review of RCI Independence of the Seas staterooms, covering amenities, furnishings, and services.
The ship’s largest suite is the PS-Presidential Suite (aft on Deck 6), now categorized as VS-Vista Suite. This 4-Bedroom Suite features two master bedrooms (each with 2 convertible twin beds), walk-in closet, large bathroom (bathtub and shower), two guest bedrooms (each with 2 convertible twin beds plus 2 upper/bunk beds), dresser, bathroom with shower, and a spacious living area (sofa bed, dining area). Floor-to-ceiling sliding doors lead to a large verandah with loungers, dining table, whirlpool, and bar.
All Suites feature a King-size bed, large bathroom (whirlpool bathtub and separate shower), vanity area, walk-in closet, spacious living area (queen-size sofabed, dining area/pantry, wet bar, kitchen, dining table), and private balcony with sliding floor-to-ceiling doors, whirlpool, and loungers. Suite guests (excluding Junior and Oceanview Suites) enjoy bonus amenities such as Concierge Service with 24-hour lounge access, continental breakfast, hors d'oeuvres, CD/DVD library, private party arrangements, and priority services (Salon/Spa reservations, excursions, dining bookings).
Royal Suites include two bedrooms (each with convertible twin beds), plus a room with bunk beds (for 3rd/4th guests). They also feature a media center (surround sound, large HDTV, stereo, CD/DVD player) and a baby grand piano.
Family Suites offer two bedrooms (each with convertible twin beds), an additional room with bunk beds, living room (vanity, double sofabed, dining table), and two bathrooms (one with bathtub, both with shower).
All Balcony staterooms feature floor-to-ceiling sliding doors opening to a private verandah.
VP-Panoramic Suites (forward-facing on Spa Deck 12) include two lower single beds (convertible to Royal King), double sofabed, a separate sleeping area with bunk beds (divided by curtains), two bathrooms (one full, one half), and impressive floor-to-ceiling wraparound bow-facing windows (76 inches high x 100-320 inches wide / 1.9 m x 2.5-8 m). These suites provide premium top-deck views at a lower cost than balcony cabins.
1K-Family Oceanview cabins (former FO/Deck 12) are bow-facing and designed for families of up to 6 guests. Each has two large round picture windows, a separate bedroom (with Pullman beds), a large living area (double sofabed and two convertible twin beds), minibar, ample seating and closet space, and a bathroom with shower.
All Oceanview cabins have a round picture window (24-inch / 61 cm diameter).
Atrium Promenade cabins (category PR-Promenade View) are unique interior staterooms with bowed windows overlooking the Royal Promenade. The windows create extra space and provide a direct view of the promenade’s activities, including nightly parades. Curtains should be closed at night for privacy, as other cabins face across the atrium.
All cabins feature two twin beds (convertible to Queen or Royal King in Suites), closet and drawer space, private bathroom (shower, hairdryer, bath products), sitting area (desk, vanity, convertible sofa), smart HDTV (infotainment, Internet, on-demand movies), individual air-conditioning, direct-dial phone, electronic safe, lifejackets, radio, minibar, Internet access, and 24-hour room service (complimentary between 5 am and midnight).
Some staterooms have sofabeds or Pullman beds for a 3rd/4th guest. Twin beds measure 36 x 82 inches (90 x 210 cm).
In-cabin babysitting is available at US$19 per child per hour, for up to 4 children per stateroom. Movies, toys, and games suitable for children with autism can be borrowed for in-cabin use.
RCI’s new Wi-Fi service costs US$15 per device per day (with 50% discount for a second device). It provides shipwide coverage with high-speed access suitable for streaming.
