Walking is practical for reasonably mobile passengers, although part of the approach follows ordinary local roads rather than a continuous waterfront promenade.

Do not rely on finding taxis or frequent public transport at the landing. If the ship provides a transfer, note its return point and final departure time before setting out.

See Calvörde Castle from the Outside

The surviving castle site stands east of the center beside the Ohre lowlands. It is approximately 2 km (1.2 mi) from the marina and can be incorporated into a longer walk. The property is privately occupied, so remain on public paths and treat it as an exterior viewing stop rather than a visitor attraction.

Walk or Cycle beside the Mittelland Canal

For a simple outing, follow the canal-side paths from the marina and watch passing commercial and leisure traffic. The terrain is generally flat. This is particularly suitable for a short call or for passengers who prefer scenery to village sightseeing.

If bicycles are carried on the ship or specifically arranged, Calvörde's wider network of canal and countryside routes provides more flexibility. Do not assume that bicycle rental will be available at the harbor.

Visit the Drömling Wetlands

The nearby Drömling Biosphere Reserve is known for its flat wetland landscape, drainage channels, birdlife and quiet cycling routes. 5. Halbemondstrasse: Make a short detour through the older village streets to see surviving half-timbered houses and farm buildings from public areas.
6. Calvörde Castle: Continue east to the former castle site for an exterior view, respecting the private property.
7. Return to the marina: Retrace the most direct route, allowing additional time to locate the harbor entrance and reboard.

Passengers wanting a shorter outing can omit the castle and return after the church and market area, reducing the walk to approximately 3 km (1.9 mi).
