Kangaamiut is a port village in Qeqqata municipality (central-western Greenland) with population arouind 350. The village is located on a small island in Davis Strait. Kangaamiut is approx 26 km (16 mi) south of Simiutaq Island. To the south and north are located two long fjords, respectively, Kangerlussuatsiaq and Kangerluarsuat. The settlement (initially named Sukkertoppen) was founded in 1755.
Kangaamiut is a ferry port for Arctic Umiaq Line (freight and passenger shipping company). Arctic Umiaq serves the south-western Greenland route roundtrip from Nuuk.
