Providenciales Island (aka Provo Island) is one of the Turks and Caicos Islands (British Overseas Territory in the Caribbean / part of the UK). Providenciales has land area approx 98 km2 (38 mi2) and population around 24,000 (country's largest by population). Provo's main settlements are Downtown and Kew Town (near the airport), Wheeland, Leeward. Turks and Caicos' capital city and main cruise port is Cockburn Town (on Grand Turk Island), located approx 120 km (75 mi) to the east-southeast.
On Provo Island is Providenciales Airport - the country's main international airport serving flights by Air Canada, Air Canada Rouge, American Airlines (regular and seasonal flights), American Eagle, Bahamasair, British Airways, Caicos Express Airways (domestic charter flights), Delta Air Lines (regular and seasonal), InterCaribbean Airways, JetBlue, SkyBahamas Airlines, Southwest Airlines, Sunrise Airways, United Airlines, WestJet. Regularly-scheduled flights connect to Canada (Toronto, Montréal), USA (Miami and Fort Lauderdale Florida, NYC New York, Newark NJ, Charlotte NC, Atlanta GA), UK (London), Bahamas (Nassau, Freeport), also to Antigua, Dominican Republic, Haiti, Cuba, Tortola BVI.

Providenciales Island's economy is heavily based on tourism. Industry's development started in 1984 when was opened the Club Med Turkoise (large hotel and casino complex). Other large resorts on the island include Grace Bay Club, Ocean Club Resorts, Seven Stars Resort and Spa, The Shore Club Turks and Caicos, The Palms Turks and Caicos, The Sands at Grace Bay, Ocean Club West, Amanyara Resort. Provo is the country's most tourist-developed island, also having a world-class 18-hole golf course (Provo Golf Club).
Among tourists, Provo is popular for scuba diving and coral reef snorkeling, kiteboarding (Long Bay Beach), wildlife viewing (humpback whales), boat touring and sail boating (uninhabited surrounding cays / isles), resort vacations (has some of the Caribbean's best-rated beaches), sightseeing, hiking and 4x4 driving tours.
