Crystal Cruises cancels voyage and reroutes ships due to Red Sea risks

Crystal Cruises has made operational adjustments in response to ongoing security concerns surrounding ships navigating the Red Sea.

The cancellation of the March 27 to April 13 cruise from Mumbai to Athens (Piraeus) on the Crystal Symphony is part of this response. Consequently, the planned chairmen's cruise, initially scheduled from Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, to Rhodes, Greece during this voyage from April 2 to 8, has been affected.

Additionally, segments of the world cruise itinerary aboard the Crystal Serenity have been rerouted to avoid the Red Sea. The 126-day journey, commencing on February 3 from San Diego CA, will maintain its schedule, concluding on June 8 in Miami Florida.

The decision to reroute comes in the wake of heightened security risks following attacks by Houthi militants in Yemen targeting vessels in the Red Sea. This has prompted various cruise and cargo operators, including Crystal Cruises along with others such as AIDA Cruises, Costa, Cunard, Holland America Line, MSC, P&O Cruises, Princess, Seabourn, and Silversea, to adjust their routes, steering clear of the Red Sea and the Suez Canal, the customary maritime passage between Asia and Europe.
