Review of Norwegian Escape deck 8 (Promenade-Shops)

NCL Escape’s Waterfront Promenade is a unique experience by a number of seaside outdoor venues with breath-taking ocean views. The list of venues includes shops, bars and restaurants, and the 1/4 ml long boardwalk – 8 stories above the water.

The District Brew House (urban craft beer hall with a keg room, 50 different bottled beers and 24 draft beers on tap; featuring an exceptional partnership with Miami’s Wynwood Brewing Company. The District Brew House serves the exclusive Wynwood brew - available exclusively on Norwegian Escape).

Food Republic is another new, exclusive NCL Escape dining concept (via partnership with Pubbelly Restaurant Group). This is a specialty restaurant open for lunch through dinner, with modern international cuisine (a la carte menu, iPad ordering system).

5 O’Clock Somewhere Bar (the first at sea, introduced on NCL Escape; live music).

La Cucina is the Italian specialty restaurant (reservations-only, cover charge US$15 PP, kids charged a full cover). The Cucina restaurant is open between 5:30-9:30 pm and has large tables. The NCL ship’s Italian dining experience is marked by a casual atmosphere and large portions (perfect for family dinners) and traditional Italian fine wines and gourmet cuisine specialties – pizzas, pastas, seafood, classic salads, freshly baked breads, desserts (including ice cream). La Cucina additionally has a separate outdoor seating terrace (waterfront) area.

Tobacco Road Liquor Bar (Miami’s oldest bar / located within 678 Ocean Place) incorporates elements of the original bar, including the neon sign, photographs and memorabilia; offers a selection of cocktails by Leo Holtzman – Tobacco Road’s resident mixologist).

The Humidor (cigar lounge)

The Cellars Wine Bar (via partnership with the Mondavi Family) has premium wines selection and offers wine tasting (sommelier service) and a la carte menu (tapas-style). The Wine Bar has a separate tasting room, and also a 180-degree seaview outdoor seating on The Waterfront.

Pincho Tapas Bar (by Jose Garces) has a la carte menu for Latin dishes.

Atrium Shops is the ship's shopping arcade consisting of Tradewinds (duty-free shops) and luxury boutiques. Among the Atrium Boutiques are 2 new (exclusive for NCL) stores - Carolina Herrera (designer fashion clothing, bags, purses, accessories, perfumes) and LACOSTE (designer shoes, clothing, apparel, sportswear, leather goods). Each of these new onboard boutiques is "first at sea", and designed specifically for NCL Escape. In addition to the exclusive stores, the ship also has retail shops from name brands like Hublot (watches), Bvlgari (jewellery, perfumes, leather goods), Tissot (Swiss watches), Uno de 50 (jewellery), Ulysse Nardin (Swiss watches). The ship also introduced the Ulysse Nardin watches and a hand-picked Columbian Emeralds collection.

Bayamo Restaurant (by Jose Garces) is a Cuban/Latin cuisine seafood restaurant.

Sugarcane Mojito Bar (at the Bayamo’s entrance) offers live Latin music and drinks.

Carlos Bake Shop is a premium bakery by ‘the “cake boss” Buddy Valastro.

Prime Meridian Bar (situated between Cagney’s and Moderno Churrascaria)

Cagney’s Steakhouse is a specialty dinner restaurant (open 5:30-10:30 pm) for prime steaks (Certified Angus Beef) and gourmet seafood specialties. The Cagney’s restaurant is reservations-only, with cover charge US$30 per person and a free Kids Menu. At Cagney’s, kids are charged a full cover. Additionally, the steakhouse is open for suite-guests only serving Breakfast (7:30-9:30 am) and Lunch (12-1:30 pm).

Moderno Churrascaria (open 5:30-1030 pm) is a Brazilian steakhouse. This is a reservations-only specialty restaurant with cover charge US$20 per person (kids charged a full cover). The Moderno steakhouse has separate bars for salads, cheeses, barbecue (cured and slow-roasted meats – beef, pork, chicken, lamb) and desserts. The Moderno restaurant additionally has an outdoor seating (waterfront) area. Its Moderno Bar opens at 12 pm, features Latin-American music, themed food and specialty drinks, including Brazilian cocktails.
