Norwegian Pearl (2006-built, last refurbished in 2025; "Norwegian Edge" refurbishment in 2017) is the third of four Jewel-class Norwegian Cruise Line ships, together with Gem, Jade, and Jewel. NCL Pearl is also known for hosting the annual “KISS Kruise” since 2011, making her the exclusive ship choice for fans of the world-famous rock band.
Norwegian Pearl’s deck plan shows a total of 1197 staterooms accommodating 2394 passengers (maximum capacity 2873), served by 1070 crew. The vessel has 15 decks (12 accessible to passengers, 8 with cabins), 20 dining venues, 13 bars and lounges, 3 swimming pools, 7 Jacuzzis (outdoor whirlpools), and 12 elevators.
NCL Pearl deck plan changes – 2017 refurbishment review
The ship’s February 14–26, 2017 drydock in Freeport, Bahamas, resulted in the following upgrades, renovations, and deck plan changes:
- All cruise staterooms were refreshed with cool blue color schemes and received new furniture, carpeting, bed headboards, flat HDTVs with infotainment system, and USB charging outlets.
- More than 2200 new artworks were installed throughout the vessel, including in all cabins.
- The Haven suite complex received a fully refurbished Haven Courtyard, including new outdoor deck finishes, pool and hot tub upgrades, plus new deck furniture and cabanas.
- The Haven suites and villas underwent extensive interior renovations, including new wallpapers, furniture, finishes, carpeting, draperies, and artworks.
- Cagney’s Steakhouse was updated with new carpeting, artworks, upholstery, and window treatments.
- Moderno Churrascaria (Brazilian steakhouse) received new tables and chairs, wall laminates, granite bar tops, and a redesigned glass-door entrance.
- O’Sheehan’s Bar and Grill was upgraded with new flooring, a refurbished granite-topped bar, new bar-back shelving, updated ceiling and lighting fixtures, wall finishes, new furniture (tables and chairs), and new banquet seating for large groups.
- The Pool Deck received new deck flooring and refurbished whirlpools. The “Great Outdoors” and “Sky High” bars were also updated with new flooring.
The 2017 drydock was part of NCL’s “Norwegian Edge” fleetwide enhancement program (a two-year project with a budget of USD 400 million). Each shipyard stay under the program cost approximately USD 35–40 million.
