A separate link provides an extensive information on ms Noordam staterooms (cabins and suites), including photos, cabin plans and amenities by room type and category.
MS Noordam (2003-built, last refurbished in November–December 2024) is the fourth and final Vista-class Holland America ship, sailing alongside her fleetmates ms Oosterdam, ms Westerdam, ms Zuiderdam, and the P&O Cruises ship Arcadia. A previous vessel sailing under the same name was the former Marella Celebration. The name “Noordam” represents the northern point of the compass in Dutch.
Noordam’s deck plan shows 986 staterooms for 1,972 passengers (maximum capacity 2,366), served by 820 crew. The ship has 11 passenger decks (7 with cabins), 13 lounges and bars, 3 swimming pools (one with a retractable glass roof), 5 outdoor Jacuzzis, and 14 elevators (4 with scenic glass walls).
In 2016, Holland America Line refreshed MS Noordam’s onboard programming—enhancing enrichment, entertainment, and kids’ activities—replacing the former “Dancing With the Stars” shows with BBC Earth content.
- The ship’s theatre hosts daily expert lectures, presentations, a nature-themed game show, and BBC Earth screenings introduced by the crews who filmed the series. A signature evening concert is based on the “Frozen Planet” program (polar regions-themed), featuring a multimedia production with live musicians.
- The kids’ club offers an explorer trail, workshops (including journalism and filming), and educational shows featuring animals and dinosaurs.
- Holland America themed voyages provide access to BBC Earth creators, with behind-the-scenes media and storytelling. Children can participate in filming workshops.
Noordam deckplan changes – 2019 refurbishment review
The ship’s previous major refurbishment took place in November 2019 during a 14-day drydock at Victoria Shipyards (Victoria, BC Canada). Upgrades included the addition of Billboard Onboard (in the Music Walk area), Microsoft Studio (in Explorations Café), and a new Fujifilm Wonder Photo Shop. A pickleball court was added on Sports Deck (a doubles badminton-sized court measuring 20×44 ft / 6.3×13.4 m).
All Suites (cabins and bathrooms) were renovated with updated furniture. Pinnacle Bar, Pinnacle Grill, the Dining Room Restaurant, Lido Market buffet, and the Greenhouse Spa & Salon were also refreshed with new furniture and carpeting.
During the May 2015 drydock, all passenger cabins (including bathrooms) received new furnishings—sofas, chairs, headboards, carpets, wall coverings, privacy curtains, draperies, bed runners, bed skirts, quartz-stone vanity tops, vanity lighting, dressers, dressing tables, nightstands—along with smart HDTVs and BOSE SoundDock iPod stations. Additional enhancements included new USB charging ports, power outlets, and LED lighting.
MS Noordam’s 2015 drydock was part of Holland America Line’s USD 300 million fleet renovation program (2016–2018).
