Luxembourg City is the capital of Grand Duchy of Luxembourg - a souvereign country in Western Europe bordered by Belgium (north and west), Germany (east) and France (south). The city has population around 120,000, and together with Strasbourg (France) and Brussels (Belgium) is one of the European Union's 3 official capitals. Here is seated EU's European Court of Justice. The repeated invasions (especially during WW2 / 1939-1945) resulted in Luxembourg's strong will to mediate between Germany and France, leading to the foundation of the EU.
With total area around 2586 km2 (998 ml2), Luxembourg is one of Europe's smallest states. By population (around 525,000) it is ranked Europe's 8th least-populous.
