Carnival Dream (2009-built, last refurbished in July 2021) is one of the largest Carnival cruise ships and the first of three Dream-class liners, along with Carnival Breeze and Carnival Magic. The same class also includes Costa Diadema.
The Carnival Dream deck plan includes 1823 staterooms accommodating 3646 passengers (maximum capacity 4558), served by 1367 crew members. The ship features 14 passenger decks (9 with cabins), 22 lounges and bars, 3 swimming pools (one with retractable roof), 9 outdoor Jacuzzis (6 cantilevered), and 18 elevators. The cabin decks contain 70 Suites, 817 Balcony, 258 Oceanview, and 678 Inside cabins. Self-service laundromats are also available for guests.
Laundry facilities are available at an extra charge: $3.25 per washer or dryer load, and $1.50 per detergent/water softener box (dispensed from vending machines in the laundry rooms). Launderettes (open from 6:30 am to midnight) are located on all cabin decks and include 2–3 washers, 2–3 dryers, and 1 ironing board with iron. Machines are coinless and operated via Sail & Sign cards. While in port, washers are disabled (only dryers and irons are functional). Valet laundry service is available through the cabin steward. Prices per item: wash-and-press ($2–$7.50), dry-cleaning ($3–$10.50).
Carnival Dream Drydock 2021
In July–August 2021, Carnival Dream underwent drydock at Chantier Naval de Marseille (CNdM Shipyard in Marseille, France) for general maintenance. During this refit, the ship received Carnival's new red-white-blue hull livery, first introduced on Mardi Gras, replacing the previous white hull with a red stripe.
Carnival Dream Deck Plan Changes – 2017 Refurbishment
The January 30 – February 11, 2017 drydock in Freeport, Bahamas introduced several upgrades:
- Promenade Deck 5:Guy's Pig & Anchor Bar-B-Que Smokehouse – a complimentary, open-air barbecue venue designed by Guy Fieri. The menu features pork butt, sliced smoked beef, blue ribbon chicken, smoked Andouille sausage, gourmet burgers, and sides like Mac Daddy Mac'n Cheese, Old Skool Potato Salad, Scratch-Made Slaw, Collard Greens with Smoked Turkey, and Molasses Baked Beans with Bacon and Burnt Ends.
- Lido Deck 10 (portside):BlueIguana Cantina – a complimentary Mexican eatery replacing the former poolside Pizzeria. It serves fresh-made burritos and tacos with a wide range of toppings and salsa bar options.
- Lido Deck 10 (starboard):Guy's Burger Joint – a complimentary premium burger venue replacing the previous poolside Grille.
- Promenade Deck 5:Alchemy Bar – Carnival's signature “cocktail pharmacy” lounge where mixologists (in lab coats) create custom drinks using various liquors and ingredients.
- Promenade Deck 5:Bonsai Sushi – a premium sushi venue offering sushi, sashimi, “bento ships,” Japanese beers, sakes, and cocktails.
- Lido Deck 10:Pizzeria del Capitano – a 24-hour complimentary venue offering five varieties of hand-tossed, oven-baked pizza: Margherita, Quattro Formaggio, mushroom, prosciutto, and pepperoni.
During the June 2021 drydock in Marseille, in addition to routine maintenance, the ship's exterior hull was repainted with Carnival’s new branding design.
